Carry out cost calculations for production/products and their sub-assemblies and components, as well as prepare
calculations for proposals, projects and production within the product costing calculation
Assert and justify product costs to the customer as well as ensure and communicate internally coordinated cost factors
and procedures within the external product cost management
Introduce design-to-cost (DtC) measures, set cost targets and manage supplier workshops within the product cost
structure.
A Product cost management
1 Develop proposal calculations as the basis for cost-based proposals for the respective organizational units, based
on preliminary information (prototypes, drawings, sketches, requirement specifications, etc.) and the necessary
documentation to ensure a seamless flow of information, such as bills of materials, work plans with equipment
specifications, tools cost statements etc. and support the organizational units in pricing by highlighting possible
savings potential
2 Carry out a project profitability calculation (P2R); define and specify the targets for development, materials,
production costs for product-specific and open jigs and fixtures or equipment designs and assist in their
administration
3 Determine price recommendations and project key figures for superior organizational units
4 Prepare project-related calculations (product life cycle) for new or modified designs in project development,
involving the necessary organizational units; introduce, process and evaluate process investigations, as well as
introduce Design-to-Cost (DtC) measures
5 Assist in defining production type and sequence for the realization of the overall project with the necessary lines,
operating and testing equipment and indication of cost reduction possibilities
6 Calculate new productions taking into account new methods
7 Determine the machinery and equipment capacity for capital expenditure planning that is available and/or that
needs to be planned, in terms of new projects, process the necessary releases for new materials and additional
jigs and fixtures
8 Develop decision-making criteria for the allocation of operating equipment production, taking into account technical
requirements and compliance with the given budget constraints and the determined target costs
9 Advise and support the relevant organizational units with regard to the design of new devices and individual parts,
taking cost reduction aspects into account
10 Test and evaluate supplier specifications for appropriateness and correctness and draw up specifications for make
or buy decisions
11 Implement a project-related costing calculation up to the production release of new or modified equipment and
components, as well as process the country points
12 Propose suitable measures for achieving prescribed internal and external cost targets or cost reductions before
and after SOP, as well as follow up the measures introduced
13 Prepare quotation calculations for subsidiaries in Germany and abroad, taking local circumstances into account
(machines, lines, production workflows etc.) and inform superiors, as well as support Hella companies in Germany
and abroad in carrying out tasks according to this job description
14 Analyze and evaluate competitive products from external companies and carry out actual/reference calculations
from a calculation point of view
15 Carry out computational evaluations/profitability calculations/ make-or-buy analyses before production transfers
16 Create or prepare documents for price negotiations to be carried out with Sales or customers, taking into account
the applicable calculation methods and lead pricing discussions with the customer
17 Carry out presentations of calculation results and analyses
18 Involvement in value creation teams
19 Further development of the calculation programs in agreement with the superior or posts responsible,
guaranteeing and updating calculation tools and standards (e.g. customer-specific standard calculation elements),
as well as testing new calculation methods for their suitability for use in the company
20 Carry out economic investigations for research and future technologies
21 Determine target specifications for purchased parts/components and lead price negotiations with suppliers
22 Support and advise project managers in economic matters, within the framework of the Time to Market
process, in close cooperation with the project team, and indicate reference/actual deviations by means of
calculations accompanying the projects
