Position: IT Support Assistant, IT Services

Salary & Benefits: RMB76,000 – RMB119,000 per annum before all deductions, depending on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications:
Essential:
? Diploma or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related disciplines
? Wide range of IT skills
? Good understanding of PC and server hardware, operating systems and applications including maintenance and repair procedures
? Deploy software by various means in an enterprise environment
? Knowledge of patching, supporting, administering and configuring server operating systems and applications
? Understanding of LAN/WAN communications, LDAP and directory services and network printing
? Experience of computer systems, including Windows based desktops and Servers
? Experience of the use and development of computer based services
? Experience of provision of IT support
? Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and students, with a positive approach to customer care
? Good problem solving and organisational skills
? Fluency in Chinese and English (spoken and written), CET 6 or equivalents
? Willingness to work flexibly and to provide some out of hours support
? Ability to work under own initiative and as a member of a team
? Ability to work well under pressure
Desirable:
? Bachelor degree in related disciplines
? Relevant qualifications in IT or equivalent experience e.g. MCSE/CCNA/RHCE
? Knowledge of diverse IT resources
? Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory / Exchange / SCCM
? Linux(UNIX) experience
? Good understanding of web servers
? Experience of developing training materials and providing training
? Experience of supporting high performance workstations and servers
? Proven record in the delivery of IT services
? Proven record of time keeping
? Experience of developing training materials and providing training
? Experience of planning and delivering information skills programmes
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
? Provide 1st line and 2nd line IT support for staff and students within the university
? Be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of specific services including front-line support for use of all Information Services (hereafter “IS”) computing facilities
? Support and maintain university centralized services and business systems and peripherals equipment
? Purchase, installation, testing, upgrading and maintenance of computer hardware, Windows/Linux operating systems, servers, software, printers and peripherals equipment
? Assist with induction and information skills training for staff. Deliver introductory lectures to train groups of students with similar needs
? Highlight any discrepancies or improvements that might be made to existing services or documentation. Suggest new and/or changes to services in response to customer feedback
? Ensure that all customers adhere to the regulations about behaviour in order to maintain an acceptable standard and a suitable learning environment in the university
? Actively keep up to date with the services that IS provides and any new developments. Pursue a programme of continuing personal development, including development of specialist skills and knowledge required for the particular service and/or subject area. Attendance outside normal working hours may be required
? Provide guidance and consultancy to the wider academic community in the design and development of computing services and associated to support teaching, administration and learning activities
? Keep up to date with hardware and software developments in the field. Attempt, through the combination of training and observational skills, to develop and expand the depth and breadth of related knowledge and skills
? Integrate network server infrastructure and business computing platforms including Unix/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Portal technologies
? Some out of hours on-call support will be required
? Any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the person appointed
