Senior Technician, Technical Service

Work location: Shanghai - Gaoqiao, Pudong (shuttle bus is provided)
Reporting to: Lab Supervisor
People Management Responsibility: No
Travel Required: No
Shift Required: No

Job Objectives:
Organize tasks / work requests for project or topic related activities (development) or organize activities required for tech. service; Report results and conclusions within agreed time to Lab supervisor or Manager R&D/Tech. Service; Provide general guidance to junior staff on routine work, provide guidance for new procedures for lab technicians.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Carry out lab work requests for market support, tech. service tasks, problem solving issues and compile test results.
2. Test and benchmark customer samples, supplier or competitor products. Test given grades in guiding formulations. Adjust guiding formulations to customer specific needs and requirements.
3. Carry out lab work requests for development projects/topics and compile results.
4. Test new polymers in guiding formulations; develop new guiding formulations if required. Development for experimental products.
5. Communicate frequently with team members and Tech. / R&D manager. Contact to other labs in our regions, align test methods and data interpretation.
6. Maintain work place in good condition and meet BASF Safety, Health and Environment requirements. Comply with official quality certifications e.g. ISO standards.
7. Ensure consistent and good quality of work and documentation.
8. Maintain lab equipment under his responsibility and calibrate per fixed schedule.
9. Prepare promotion materials for sales and technical advisors.

Requirements:
1. College degree and above in chemistry;
2. More than 3 years coatings related work experience; wood and plastic coatings experience is a plus;
3. Professional knowledge in operating and maintaining equipment; can understand basic English and operate Microsoft Office.
