JOB OBJECTIVES:
The incumbent is responsible for providing technical know-how, and product application leadership, for the Mining Solutions product portfolio, to support existing business and business development projects for Mining Solutions in Greater China.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates in the identification, prioritization, planning and execution of Mining Solutions key sales projects. Provides expert technical input/support with regard to determining required laboratory test work, plant trials/objectives and commissioning of new business opportunities. Especially in relation to solid liquid separation products and processes.
2. Develops and maintains relationships with relevant Universities and Project Engineering companies to gain market intelligence and promote the use of BASF products and services.
3. Visits Mining Solutions customer sites to review product application and plant operating conditions in order to provide performance improvement recommendations either through the Mining Solutions sales team or directly to BASF customers.
4. Support and mentor the local sales team and customer base achieving excellence in product application, test work and process design.
5. Provides input to customer sales price discussions based on the customer value proposition.
6. As required, organizes and/or participates in training activities to educate internal and external personnel in respect BASF products and technology.
7. Monitors the technical activities of competitors. Shares knowledge with internal functions i.e. Regional Marketing, Sales Team, Process Champions etc.
8. Participates in relevant local industry conferences and communicates learning/business benefits back to the Mining Solutions organization.
9. Scouts for potential research opportunities and potential technology acquisitions. Identifies customer needs for new technologies and communicate these to business
10. Ensures personal compliance with relevant OH&S legislation, customer specific EHS requirements and BASF Responsible Care? – Think Safety, Act Safely, Every Day
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education: Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent. Good level of oral and written English. Communication skills, including negotiating, presentation, influencing & relationship building.
2. Work Experience: Direct experience in the mineral processing industry with emphasis on process knowledge.>2 yrs
3. Technical and Professional Knowledge: Knowledge of processes used in mineral processing such as solid liquid separation, filtration etc.
