Position: Senior Counsel, IP
Work Location: Shanghai
Reporting to: Organizationally to General Counsel, BASF Greater China; Functionally to GVX China Head

JOB OBJECTIVES:
Advice on a wide range of lP matters in China.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Providing IP advice to BASF companies in China on day to day business, e.g.:
？ Preparation, reviewing and negotiation of contracts
？ Coordinating Litigation and providing instructions to outside lawyers to achieve effective and cost-efficient services
？ Drafting patent applications
？ Monitoring 3rd party patent activities
？ Handling trademark and domain name issues
？ Supporting GVX on local IPR tasks and projects in Greater China
？ Participating in IP legislation and policy lobbying activities
2. Taking highly independent responsibility in communications with authorities for patent applications or trademarks regarding examination proceedings, appeals and corresponding time lines;
3. Providing IP advice to M&A activities in China
4. Leading, coaching and developing IP Counsels and assistants in China, and performing other administrative tasks designated by General Counsel, Greater China and/or GVX China Head.
5. Providing IP trainings to BASF employees


REQUIREMENTS:
1. University degree in Chinese law and Bachelor degree in science (e.g. Chemical engineering); Patent attorney or lawyer qualifications preferable.
2. More than 10 years working IP experience with law firms and/or multinational companies; Management skill gained from prior jobs is an advantage;
3. Excellent English and Chinese in writing and speaking;
