Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:
Corporate communications and brand strategies
- To support and contribute to the development of corporate marketing, communications and brand strategies for China.
- To support the implementation and evaluation of corporate marketing, communication and brand development programmes in China.
Brand management
- To ensure the consistent use and promotion of the British Council brand in China (including, for example, brand framework, values, behaviours, processes, visual identity standards, messaging and tone of voice, etc ).
Media (eg press, TV, radio) relations
- To identify and prioritise media outlets in China; and to develop in conjunction with SBUs a relationship plan identifying responsibilities for engaging with each outlet.
- To establish, develop and manage relationships with media outlets which are of strategic importance for British Council China as a whole.
- To provide advice to SBUs on managing relationships with media outlets for which they have responsibility.
- To assist SBUs to develop appropriate competencies in media relations.
Advice to SBUs/programmes/projects
- To facilitate the success of the programmes from each SBU by providing advice and support resources to SBUs, programmes and projects on marketing, brand and communication (including KPIs/evaluation) aspects of their strategies and plans.
- To ensure that SBUs have access to appropriate support resources to enable them to implement marketing, communications and brand activities efficiently and effectively (such resources could be available from elsewhere in the global network and/or 3rd parties)

Financial management
- Budgeting, controlling and reporting according to British Council standard.
Other Responsibilities and main duties
- To report on risk as part of the British Council’s risk management framework.
- To develop and maintain an understanding of issues in China and the UK in relevant working areas
- To ensure accurate recording of all new business contacts in the CRM system and manage accounts as agreed with SBU lead/Area Director
- To be responsible for risk and opportunity identification and business assurance across a portfolio of projects
- To attend China office based management forums as required and to produce and issue China office-wide communications on relevant issues
- To manage recruitment, selection and induction as required with SBU leads/Area Directors and promote Equal Opportunities and Diversity as part of project planning and delivery.
- All duties are delivered in line with the British Council’s policy on Equal Opportunity and Diversity and EOD is taken into account when planning and delivering activity
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
-4+ years Markeing experiences -Experience of media relations management; market segmentation and targeting
- Experience of B2B and B2C or Service/culture marketing
- Experience of Managing agencies
- Highly developed written and oral communications skills in both Chinese and English
