Position Summary:
The Application Developer is responsible for the development and implementation of n-tier architecture using either Java or Microsoft-based technologies. This developer will be part of a team responsible for building custom solutions for our Fortune 500 clients.

Position Responsibilities:
? Work as part of a global team in a matrix organization.
? Developing n-tier applications and services that could include:
? Customer facing Preference Centers
? Client facing, web-based Lookup Utilities
? Web Service integration by either creating or leveraging existing APIs
? Landing Pages or other custom applications based on client needs
? Hands-on development and support of client deliverables including:
? Participating in design sessions
? Developing code to implement solutions
? Unit testing
? Assisting in QA/UAT phase as issues arise
? Deploying code and providing initial support
? Writing technical documentation
? Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
? Qualified individuals possess the Merkle attributes of being smart, curious, committed to vision, passionate, fun/pleasant, an achiever and having a sense of urgency
? Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related IT field or relevant professional experience
? 2+ years of Software Development
? 2+ years of solid Java development (Experience with .NET a plus)
? Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables concurrently
? Experience with developing and implementing Web Services (SOAP or RESTful)
? Proficiency and/or experience with most of the following technologies:
Languages: HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL, JDBC, ODBC, PL/SQL, Perl, JAVA, Struts, JSP, Servlets, Axis, Active Server Pages, ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, VBScript, XML, SOAP, WSDL
? Familiarity with application platforms such as (JBOSS, IIS, LAMP, WAMP)
? Experience with multiple Operating Systems (Linux, Red Hat Linux, UNIX, Windows Server, Windows XP/7)
? Experience or Knowledge of CMS (Content Management System) platforms a plus
? Unix shell scripting and command line skills
? Strong knowledge of software engineering and development methodologies, techniques, and tools, including Version Controls (Subversion, git), Issue Tracking (Jira), and Software Development Lifecycle (waterfall; agile)
? Experience in database marketing a plus
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills
