Post: Dye and Chemical Specialist
Department: Sourcing
Reports to: VP Sourcing, South East Asia
Work location: Shanghai

Job Function/Purpose

1. To be actively involved in sourcing of Textile and textile related chemicals and Dyes in the China market for export.
2. Must have good negotiations skills
3. Trade financing is a plus in this job.
4. To be able to be involved in quality assurance of the of the product being shipped.
5. Must have a good knowledge of product testing.
6. Will be involved with shipping and logistics process.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Will be responsible for developing and running the D&C business for Gildan in China. Gildan needs to broaden the scope of our purchasing and we believe that China will provide us the advantage in the future to remain competitive. The person must be a self-starter and be able to work on their own and will be based in our Shanghai office.

This is a key role in our sourcing operation.

Experience/Education Requirements
1. Must have a chemical back ground.
2. Hopefully have a textile or a chemistry degree. If possible with textile Chemistry or Dye stuff chemistry.
3. At least 7 years’ experience working for a chemical or a dye stuff manufacturer. Also may be he has a background working
for a Chemical or a dye stuff trading company.
4. Should be able to travel and some of this may involve travelling abroad.
5. Must be able to communicate in English and be able to write in English.
6. Be able to negotiate prices and manage shipments.
7. Able to do quality control and quality analysis of the product.
8. Have a knowledge of working with test houses.
9. Working with a foreign company is an advantage.
10. Be able to advise the head office of the trends and outlook of the Chemical and Dye stuff industry in China and Asia.
11. Have a willingness to be able to work on his own.
