Candidate Responsibilities:

Site management of the Shanghai MCU R&D team including hiring and building the team, executing the roadmaps and local projects, releasing and productizing chips and the development analog & digital IP, finally keeping track of local budgets and capital expenditure. The Shanghai R&D manager must insure world class time to market, competitive products at high quality and low costs. Shanghai is a remote site to the BL which gives this position the extra challenge of having to be autonomous.-


Candidate Profile:

1. Manage and direct the R&D departments' assets and resources (equipment, personnel, cost of organization). Install and maintain departmental business controls.
2. Supervise all hiring, training and engagement of personnel for the R&D organization and supervision of responsibilities within the team. Key role to make sure that the Business Line hires and retains the best personnel and the personnel needs and costs are aligned with the AOP. This responsibility is focused on the Design Execution team including design, product and test resources.
3. Member of the BL Management Team. Active participation in the strategic planning process and ongoing business reviews.
4. Product portfolio development & management, generation and approval of new product requests . Includes financial (NPV, cumulative IFO, total sales $ and margin) and strategic review (customer, market, competitive positioning, fit with existing portfolio, innovative value, ...) before approval.
5. Prioritization of development projects (new products, portfolio expansion, cost reductions). Development resource allocations to market segments and product families. Performed on a regular basis, this activity is key to ensure that the necessary resources (personnel, equipment, capital) are mobilized in time for successful execution of the R&D projects with the best return on investments at any given point in time.
6. Actively participate in the yearly strategy for the Microcontroller Business Line.
7. Implement the Microcontroller Business Line strategy with respect to products, in strong conjunction with marketing and customers. This is a key development responsibility, and a key role to sustain profitable long-term growth. Includes regular interaction with the marketing team and BL management to set the R&D budget and then devise action plans to meet the agreed budget.
