Our client is a famous sporting goods retailer.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  1. Responsible in formulating, aligning and executing the plans with the Distributor to achieve overall business target and brand footprint
  2. Leads a team to work closely with the Distributor in achieving set KPIs within a set timeframe assuring that both Distributor and brand are growing in a sustainable manner
  3. Collaborate with Merchandising Team to come up with the best possible range plan and program for the Distributor


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Division Sales Planning and Management:
    • Develop division business plans and implementation of company policies, procedures and programs so as to reach sales objectives
    • Coordinate Distributor key personnel and partner with merchandising to plan and execute the business plan
    • Engage and empower Distributor sales managers and territory sales representatives to drive for results
    • Develop the annual and 3-year sales plan
    • Develop the seasonal ISMP in collaboration with Sales Planning and Merchandising
  • Account Management and Assortment Planning Management:
    • Work closely with Distributor’s regional / territory team to ensure constructive cooperation with customers and distribution partners through excellent account management; and also develop regional accounts
    • Understand and participate in a consultative approach in managing and directing customers, in the analysis, planning and execution of account business plans
    • Establish strong relationships with key customer employees including executives, buyers, etc, in order to influence and execute account plans.
    • Establish distribution contracts and annual trade terms, manage payment integrity / risk and maintain a collaborative working relationship with Distributor
    • Monitor customer sell-in and sell-thru ensuring that inventory are within manageable levels to sustain a healthy and profitable business
    • Drive productivity through quality account assortment plans and buying recommendations
      Support, discuss and provide input / feedback to the merchandising team regarding product flow to market and RRPs (Product flow and RRP’s are determined and led by merchandising)
    • Review and adjust account indent orders (including strategic buffer orders)
  • Reporting (Market Sensing):
    • Implement strong market sensing capabilities in order to maximize division sales
    • Develop in collaboration with IT and Retail Intelligence Manager an account based data reporting system in order to analyze retail intelligence/performance (division sell-thru, inventory levels, customer margins, competitive feedback)
    • Articulate reporting needs and develop reporting templates
    • Drive data analysis and provide executive management reports calling out conclusions and recommendations
    • Share analysis results and conclusions also with merchandising
  • Process Management (GTM):
    • Collaborate and drive the Go-to-market process with Merchandising Team to maximize sales potential of the Distributor
    • Plan and execute GTM strategy with the Distributor
    • Work hand in hand with cross functional team in Merchandising and Marketing and to foster an effective and aligned Go-To-Market process (from Planning, Alignment Meeting, Pre-line (owned by merchandising), National Sales Meeting, Preview (supported by merchandising), Tradeshow, Purchase Order Management until Product Launch)
    • Facilitate the Alignment Meeting, participate proactively in the Pre-line Meeting, own the Preview Customer meeting and represent the Sales Department as a member of the tradeshow taskforce
    • Manage “Prepare to Sell” (Guidelines, PPTs, GTM) and develop the seasonal Sales Kit (incl. campaign integrity criteria) in collaboration with Merchandising and Marketing
      Identify needs for quick response packages and validate the business opportunity (work with Merchandising)
  • Presentation Excellence:
    • As a role model for preparing and staging effective and impactful presentations in one to one and larger group situations. e.g.: National Sales Meeting, Preview Meeting, Tradeshow, Presentations in front of customers, etc.
  • Collaboration with Peers:
    • Establish and foster a strong collaborative and efficient relationship with key peers in sales management, merchandising, marketing and retail
    • Attend sales management meetings to keep abreast of updated sales development in the company
    • Acts as the key contact between Sales and Merchandising; as well as Marketing
  • Conduct:
    • Can positively represent the company, the brand and the sales department at any time
    • Able to endorse company and brand values.
    • Respect code of conduct and act as a role model for others
  • Business Trips:
    • Frequent visits to Distributor and Key Accounts and their partners, regional offices, franchise partner meetings and regional preview meetings
    • Participation at Sales meetings might be requested (case by case)
  • Others:
    • Monitor and report competitor’s activities in the market and propose action plans if necessary
      Execute special projects assigned by the Country Head of Sales (Benchmarking, Market Research, Profitability Calculations …)


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant experience (Sales, Key Account management, Sr. Sales Category/BU Mgr., etc) preferably in wholesaling branded consumer products (e.g. Retail, Golf or other Sporting Goods, etc); of which 3 years at management/supervisory level.
  • Good command of computer skills (e.g.: Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Native Mandarin; intermediate to fluent in spoken and written English
  • Able to use financial data to make sound judgment
  • Strong assortment planning skills
  • Must have a proven ability to persuade and influence people to take desired action.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clear, concise written messages through memos, e-mails and reports.
