Position Purpose

• The purpose of this position is to support the supplier localization of powertrain casting and machined components in the local China market meeting the component Quality, Cost, Timing and Productivity metrics in support of a program action as defined by the responsible organizations within the CBG.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position –

• Scope of work involves getting engaged with the selected supplier as early as possible preferably during the engineering and process design phase. The engagement will continue through equipment installation, process capability and launch.
• Engage with the supplier’s localization project team to ensure that process and gaging methods utilized will meet the product part print intent and requirements.
• Drive a 6 sigma and Computer Aided Engineering tools driven mindset in the manufacturing process design by the component suppliers.
• Ensure process robustness is maintained in the engineering methods used for process design.
• Ensure of all lessons learned from the same/similar component manufacturing by the supplier and the industry are applied to the localization program. Conduct or participate in bench marking as required.
• Ensure that the supplier utilizes production tooling and not prototype tooling to support the

GPDS validation milestones.

• Interact and interface with Ford North America and Europe based subject matter experts in manufacturing, product and quality organizations to discuss the resolution of technical manufacturing issues on the localization projects.
• Participate in engineering and timing reviews with the component supplier localization organization to ensure its system readiness to support the Ford program launch and Rate of climb for new programs and program production for on-going programs.
• Drive proven process and equipment commonality within the supplier’s global manufacturing base.
• Ensure data driven approach and validation of supplier process stability through capability studies utilizing statistically significant data sampling.
• Proactively engage and get involved in resolution of technical manufacturing issues with the suppliers.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3 to 6 year experience (required)

• Experienced and knowledgeable in machining, assembly and casting disciplines.

• Experienced in launch of new automotive component facilities in China would be beneficial.

• Knowledge of GD&T and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques required.

• Good influential, organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Strong manufacturing background with emphasis on process engineering and gaging techniques.

• Good communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team, and provide effective technical communication with team members from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.

• 6 Sigma analysis experience would be beneficial.
