Purpose of the position

Responsible for the management and administration of all claims filed within or related to one particular management area. Provide technical expertise and advice related to incidents, claims matters and loss prevention initiatives. Obtain the best possible claims settlement for the Group as speedily as possible.


Key Tasks

Manage centralized claims handling desks within Central China;
Establish appropriate claims handling structure in respective management area;
Assess and document factual background of claims matters; establish and update claims file;
Safeguard rights of recovery and drive recovery actions;
Independently pursue and/or support local claims executives with the handling of recourse against the subcontractors
Support of PA stations with regard to conspicuous irregularities and severe incidents (e.g. loss, damages and delay of consignments)
Cooperate with other parts of the corporate group with regard to processing and handling complaints from customers or other general claim related matters
Provide first-tier advice and support to Panalpina staff related to any claims matters
Maintain accurate claims data in on-line claims database according to corporate instructions;
Manage and settle claims matters in accordance with corporate instructions;
Review and reconcile claims reserves with accounting on a regular basis;
Implement and coordinate damage prevention concepts/measures in the PA stations in conformity with global standards and instructions of corporate insurance management;
Standardize working processes and promoting the exchange of know-how amongst the claim executives;
Develop reports to the Area Management, and on request, to PAC on the basis of Incident and Claim Reporting Tools for analysis of the claim structure and for derivation of preventive measures;
Provide training to local claims executives and the employees in the PA stations with regard to transport liability and legal insurance matters, handling complaints and damage prevention

Relevant working experience in the insurance or related service industry (e.g. insurance broker, loss adjustor, recovery agent, (para-) legal etc.); alternatively claims handling experience in the logistics and transportation industry.

Educational background / Work experience
Operational industry experience (minimum 5 years)
Management experience (minimum 3 year)
Bachelor above degree (insurance & legal related major)
Relevant working experience in the insurance or related service industry (e.g. insurance broker, loss adjustor, recovery agent, (para-)legal etc.); alternatively claims handling experience in the logistics and transportation industry.


Language skills
Excellent written and oral command of English


Computer Literacy
· Good knowledge of MsOffice (word/powerpoint/excel/outlook)
