Qualifications:

Essential: Bachelor degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline; Good communication skills, including written and spoken English; Confident in the use of workshop / laboratory activities including experimental procedures in thermo fluidics, solid mechanics, vibration analysis and materials testing; Competent in the preparation of materials for testing (cutting, polishing etc.); Competent in the design, construction and commissioning of experimental rigs; Capable of carrying out maintenance and calibration tasks; Capable of the implementation of international safety standards in laboratories; Computer literacy; Thorough knowledge of operation of material testing, thermo fluidics, solid mechanics and vibration analysis equipment and software; Implementing and working to international standards of health and safety; Good organisational and time management skills; Ability to work independently when required; Problem solving skills.

Desirable: Master degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline; Experience in operating materials testing equipment e.g. Hardness and universal testing machines; Experience in vibration testing and analysis e.g. using ME’scope and SignalCalc software; Experience and skill in using Creo software; In depth knowledge and experience of advanced machine tools, e.g. 5 axis machining, laser additive manufacturing, robotics; In depth knowledge and experience using laser or water cutting equipment; Working experience in relevant area.

Salary & Benefits: RMB67,000 – RMB116,000 per annum before deductions, depending on qualifications and experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support for teaching and research in engineering and related subjects;
- Demonstrate laboratory skills to students;
- Assist students and staff with experiments;
- Manufacture small parts and test rigs for teaching and research purposes;
- Provide day-to-day management of the laboratory, including safe laboratory and workshop practice;
- Ensure the disposal of materials, to work in an orderly manner, observing the University’s health and safety policies and the specific rules of the workshop and laboratories safety regulations;
- Assist with the ordering of materials and equipment;
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, tidy and efficient condition;
- Maintain documentation of materials and processes used, as reference material.
