Position: Research Fellow in Energy Technologies, International Doctoral Innovation Centre

Qualifications:
Essential: PhD in a relevant discipline such as engineering (Chemical, Materials or Mechanical) or physical sciences (Chemistry or Applied Mathematics); Research skills; Evidence of ability to produce high quality research; Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; Experience of assistance of PhD/masters supervision; Experience of tutorial work in relevant subjects associated with energy technologies at degree level; Publication of research papers in peer-reviewed journals; A team player with integrity who are willing to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment; Ability to develop own research area; Ability to complete certain administrative duties effectively to required deadlines.
Desirable: A membership of a professional body such as IMechE or IET is optional but desirable; Evidence of previous skills or training on research; Evidence of previous assistance of PhD or master supervisions; Relevant industrial or research experience in a technical or research & development role; Experience of pastoral support role; Empathy with students from many different cultures and a desire to work in a multi-culture environment.
Salary & Benefits: RMB187, 000 – RMB233, 000 per annum before deductions, depending on qualifications and experience.
Job Outline:
This research fellow post will undertake research in energy technologies where the focus will be on cleaner fossil energy technologies, encompassing combustion, CO2 capture, utilisation and hydrocarbon conversion, and other green energies such as solar, wind and tidal energy. The successful candidates will take on the academic assistance for the energy technologies strand of the International Doctoral Innovation Centre (IDIC), a major partnership between the University of Nottingham (China and UK), Ningbo Science & Technology Bureau and Ningbo Education Bureau to educate and develop 100 leading talents in both energy and digital technologies through a pioneering cross-campus international doctoral training centre.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- To provide the assistance to academic leadership in energy technologies research and to participate academic networks;
- To undertake and engage original research in energy technologies;
- To publish research associated with energy technologies in top level peer-reviewed journals;
- To produce research suitable for dissemination to conferences, workshops and meetings (both international and national);
- To assist supervision of postgraduate research students;
- To work with other members of Divisional staff on joint research activities, including research seminars, grants, and papers;
- To take part in staff development activities consistent with continuous professional development;
- To undertake general office duties as required and any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the post.
