Principal Electro-Optical Photonic Engineer scientist(美国医疗设备行业巨头,新建亚太区研发中心)

Director - Biophotonics, Global Research and Technology Development
Summary:
Conducts research and plans development and design of gas and solid state lasers, masers, infrared, and other light emitting and light sensitive devices. Designs electronic circuitry and optical components with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits and to perform according to specifications. Provides laser system/optical expertise to support laser research and development and laser testing. Works under minimal direction, typically leading multiple technical projects or disciplines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
--Initiates investigations into new applications and oversees technology development from research to product.
--Completes early stage research and proof of concept work to establish technical and business feasibility.
--Collaborates with industrial and academic partners to identify, advance and implement new technologies.
--Identifies both internal and external approaches and project plans for developing the technology.
--Compiles, organizes and interprets technical data.
--Develops customer requirements and product specifications.
--Supports product development transfer from research to production.
--Supports personnel in authoring research papers for internal review and publication.
--Supports and refines global technology strategic direction within the Biophotonics and Imaging area for the business.
--Participates in assessment of technology, IP, and business landscape.
--Coordinates and manages state of the art searches, patent disclosures and participates in paten portfolio decisions.
--Designs and conduct tests, and performs lab set up, data acquisition, computerized data analysis, presentation of results and other evaluations for prototype and pre-production hardware.
--Confers with engineering and technical personnel regarding fabrication and testing of prototype systems, and modifies design as required.
--Develops and applies standard operating procedures for instrument alignment and configuration.
--Develops and applies quality control methods for imaging-related components including lasers, lenses, fiber optics, filters, and imaging sensors.
--Assists with development of manufacturing, assembly, and fabrication processes.
--Contributes to and leads research and development programs focusing on the application of photonics technology.
--Prepares and maintains research findings, summaries, logs and notes and develops statistical results or research.
--Prepares reports, presentations and spreadsheets of an analytical and interpretative nature to be presented to peers, executives, surgeons, customers, and at society meetings.
--Remains abreast of laboratory analytical applications to include changes/enhancements in research studies, laboratory technology, and research standards.
--Prepares research findings and supporting data for peer journal publication, oral presentation, or other dissemination and archiving.
--Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a key functional leadership role.
--Contributes inventions, new designs and techniques regarded as advances in the medical and technical/scientific community.
--Assumes supervisory responsibility as needed.
--Anticipates and identifies problems of a wide range including those requiring research and or analysis.
--Collaborates with peers to manage the development of appropriate testing to verify product meets internal and external customer requirements.
--Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives and result in a considerable expenditure of resources.
--Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results.

Job Qualification:
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. M.S. or PhD Engineering preferred.
Experience:
Bachelor's plus a minimum of 10 years relevant experience; or Master's plus a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; or PhD plus 5 years relevant experience. Education in Physics, Optics or Electronics Engineering, Scientific or Technical discipline required. Medical device experience strongly preferred.

--Good understanding of opto-electronic device physics.
--Strong background in working with high speed electro-optical devices including transmitters and receivers.
--Strong experience in test and characterization of high speed electro-optical components and systems (including BER testing, analyzing eye patterns, etc.)
--Working knowledge of optical metrology tools.
--In-depth knowledge of optical testing, instrument control, data acquisition, opto-electrical-mechanical design, and control software.
--Experience working with MEMS/MOEMS based devices.
