Key accountabilities：
To maintain the H&S standards required in the laboratory – SIOs/safety audits
Conducts research and analytical studies to develop new products for the Flow Control business – reports generated
Confers with research and other engineers to clarify and resolve problems; prepares design modifications, as appropriate – reports generated
With guidance, plans and develops experimental test programs – reports generated.
Under supervision, carries out assignments that are broad and difficult in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity – reports generated

Qualifications:
Masters degree in materials/ceramics/metallurgy as a minimum

Experience:
New graduates with a master degree will be considered. Experience from either a steel plant or another ceramic company would be a plus.

Knowledge:
The candidate must have excellent English and Chinese in both written and oral forms. The candidate must have wide ranging laboratory experience operating a variety of laboratory equipment types.
Knowledge of materials science principles is a must. Knowledge of metallurgy/steel making is a definite plus.

Skills & Behaviour:
The candidate must be a self starter and motivated to succeed on their own.
The candidate must also be able to perform as a member of a team, and be unafraid to admit when they are struggling or do not know the way forward.
The candidate must be quality minded, and extremely careful in the quality of their work.
The candidate must be able to question conventional wisdom and challenge it with new ideas.
Logical thought processes are key to the position.

Problem Solving & Complexity:
Technical problem solving is key to the position (hence the logic above).
Being able to reason the way to a problem solution in the face of others who want to use emotion instead is important.
Not being intimidated by over emotional response from others even if in more senior positions will make the candidate very strong.
There are a number of very difficult relationships to handle on a day to day basis.
The candidate must be able to project manage their own projects with limited input from the manager.
They will be responsible for organising their own work, and that of technicians working from them.
Final decisions for key steps will be referred to the manager on a case by case basis.
Reports going outside of the department will all be reviewed by the manager.
