Tekelec is looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager for the Policy Management product portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:
? Specification of technical requirements
? Collaboration with the Product Line Management team to define product strategy
? Supporting the creation of product marketing information and supporting proposals.
? This position is responsible for ensuring that the front-end technical and marketing needs for the Policy Management product portfolio are met or exceeded
? Working with sales teams and engineering to define technical requirements for the Policy Management product portfolio
? Collaborating with other teams (Subscriber Data Management and Diameter Signaling Router teams) to define technical requirements that span across products and organizations
? Owning and generating market-level technical requirements and supporting documentation
? Providing guidance in architectural decisions
? Supporting technical sales and marketing
? Supporting the associated Business Plans, Internal Plans of Record (POR), External Product Plans, External Roadmaps, Feature Commitment Tracking, RFF (Request for Feature) Process
? Supporting day-to-day processes of feature reconciliation, field trial determination, business case generation, RFx response input, and quote approval
? Understanding the competitive landscape and market opportunities for Tekelec in this area and other Product Management duties as required.
? Other duties as assigned


In the performance of these duties applicant will interface with Customers, Sales, Marketing (Corporate, Commercial and Product), Product Line Managers, R&D, Customer Service, Business Development, Manufacturing and Cross-BU Teams. The Policy Management portfolio includes all components that combine to determine and enforce policy rules in a network.

Key Knowledge Areas include:
· Definition of software product requirements for engineering organizations
· Software engineering methodologies?
· Fixed and mobile network architectures and technologies?
· Standards bodies (3GPP, ETSI, TISPAN, CableLABS, WiMAX Forum) and 3G/4G access technologies (EVDO, Rev A, UMTS, HSPA, WiMAX, LTE)
· Charging, billing and related technologies for the telecom industry? ?

Summary of Qualifications:

? BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. MS preferred.
? 8+ years experience working in fixed or mobile broadband industry or similar, with a strong working knowledge of telecommunication systems.
? 5+ years of experience defining software product requirements for engineering organizations required.
? Software Engineering experience is a plus.
? 5+ years of customer-facing experience creating solutions and defining requirements is required, specifically with tier-1 operators.
? Facilitator skills.
? Ability to solve business, technical, and logistical problems.
? Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interface with various levels of customers and internal Tekelec personnel for all aspects of the products.
? Demonstrated leadership in and direct supervision of technical aspects of product planning activities.
? May require travel to work closely with customers and sales teams for technical/business assessment and analysis of new and existing business opportunities as well as support future product roadmaps based on technical/market requirements.
