Position Duties:

• Lead Bulk Fluids (initial fills like Brake Fluid, PSF fluid, Engine Coolant, Transmission Fluid, Engine Oil, etc., grease) and Chassis Plastics & Rubber materials engineering in support of all Ford Asia Pacific and Africa programs.
• Lead corporate cost reduction initiatives (TVM, etc.) for bulk fluids.
• Manage materials approval via GMAP (Global Materials Approval Process) system - identify suppliers and materials, develop/review/approve test validation plans and results per program timing.
• Manage material SDS compliance assessment and gateway reporting for GPDS milestones through eFDVS process for bulk fluids and Chassis plastics & rubber.
• Advise the selection of materials to the Design & Release community.
• Specify the significant and critical performance requirements of materials.
• Review and signoff on Engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, Design Verification/ Product Validation Plan and Reports per program timing
• Initiate alternate materials and process investigation.
• Support the resolution of design, assembly, manufacturing, durability & field issues.
• Implement lessons learned from prior investigations into SDS or material performance specifications / strategies.
• Represent APA region in global fluids, resin & rubber tech club, grease tech team defining material usage, and develop/update standards (Trustmark, SDS, Material /Performance Specifications, etc.)
• Manage laboratory methods for improved prediction of customer usage and field performance.
• Deliver materials expertise training to the Design & Release community.

Position Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymers Engineering or related engineering fields
• Excellent English / Mandarin Chinese communication skills, verbal and written required
• Ability to read and understand international material and testing standards (ISO, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
• Proven problem solving skills.

• Ability to prioritize projects and manage time effectively.

• Ability to identify improvement opportunities and lead the implementation of improvements.
• Ability to effectively communicate and coordinated with teams from different cultural & educational backgrounds.
• Ability to develop and analyze critical business case and cost data and assumptions
• Ability to lead by example.
• Modest, self-motivated, positive attitude.
• Systematic thinking and strong ability to learn and solve problems independently.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Willingness to work overtime to support evening conference calls with the team members from US, Europe and South America.
• Domestic travel expected occasionally
