Legal Counsel, Country-for Oil Gas industry
Job Summary:
? The country Legal Counsel serves as an integral member of the country Management Team with primary responsibility for ensuring the provision of legal assistance and advice in support of country operations. The Legal Counsel, under the supervision of a Area General Counsel, is charged with the management of, and is accountable for, the appropriate handling and resolution of all legal issues and matters in the country

? Reports To: China BU Legal Counsel (foreigner)

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
? Strongly support China business expansion and provide effective legal support to the group China activities
? Direct and support and advice for legal and related matters for our group in China
? Provide guidance cohesion and legal support for the China team and staff training in legal areas of responsibility
? Advise on contracts within sales and procurement to ensure that corporate policies are complied with
? Provide legal support in projects with legal implications including M&A projects
? Direct and support and advice for legal and related matters for China;
? Protect China’s legal interest in all investments and transactions;
? Advise on contracts within sales and procurement to ensure that corporate policies are complied with;
? Prepare and file corporate documents; take care of documentation and related legal aspects for China;
? Handle/support human related legal issues;
? Handle/support customers compliant;
? Assist business divisions/groups in protecting the company interests and maintaining compliance with company policies and the international and Chinese law/regulations;
? Work with country management, functional leaders and business leaders to implement and maintain compliance programs and procedures and to ensure compliance training is completed;
? Monitor regulatory environment to ensure current and accurate compliance procedures;
? Provide training/advice on compliance to employees;
? Handle compliance cases;

Previous Experience and Competencies:
? Law degree (JD/LLB or equivalent) and related national professional legal qualifications, Master degree on Law;
? Minimum 8 years’ experience in professional law firm and/or MNCs, preferably with experience within industry;
? Experience of compliance in MNCs is preferred;
? Ability in handling complex legal matters with multi-jurisdictional experience in MNC;
? Solid experience in corporate and commercial transactions is essential;
? Deep knowledge in Law/ Rules/Regulatory;
? Understanding of legal requirements for anti-corruption, anti-trust, export control, privacy and data protection;
? Can cooperate well with headquarter Legal, and Compliance department;
? Can cooperate well with external legal counsels in China;
? Ability to plan, organize and prioritize a varied workload;
? Excellent business acumen to provide effective and solution-oriented legal advice to the business;
? Ability to lead, to manage, to work with senior management, respond proactively to pressure and deadlines;
? Be self-motivated, possesses strong initiative;
? Good on analytical skills and communication skills;
? With high integrity and high ethical standards;
? Excellent command of spoken and written English and Mandarin
