Job Output:
This position will lead the Asian Acoustics Technology Program and be responsible for collaboratively developing, refining and executing the strategy and tactics necessary to expand the recognition of acoustics as a key performance attribute in building IEQ, in order to drive growth in existing markets and develop new ones. The position will manage both internal and external resources associated with Asian acoustic development programs and work with the Global Acoustics Program Manager as well as Asian Regional Business Team Leaders to identify new acoustical product/service opportunities, develop and champion proposals for external research, and provide support to the region's sales and marketing teams from concept development through commercialization. This position routinely interacts with sales, marketing, product managers, ABPT resources, customers, vendors, universities, research institutes and standards organizations to deliver targeted objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage Acoustic Technology resources within the Asian Regional Technical Center
- Provide an/or direct acoustic support for both sourced and internal new product development efforts
- Regularly interact with key customer groups (architects, specifiers, acoustical consultants, etc) in order to understand market drivers and directly influence their decisions.
- Work with the regions marketing and marketing communications teams to develop white papers, presentations and articles for publication in trade journals highlighting the importance of acoustics
- Manage Asian Evidence Based Design (EBD) acoustical case studies (measure, analyze, modeling, surveys, etc.)
- Manage Global EASE modeling capabilities, developing new tools and applications as well as enabling customers to "hear the difference" on specific jobs
- Manage expansion and maintenance of existing Global acoustics software tools such as RT modeling and "hear the difference", and develop new tools based on evolving regional and global marketing needs
- Manage/Provide acoustic technical services to Asian advertising and marketing for development of product literature and training programs and to the Asian Sales Team as needed on a project basis.
- Manage Asian TechLine level 2 customer support
- Participate as a member of the Global Acoustic Team and provide support for Global acoustics initiatives
- Participate in the development of both Asian national and international standards (and codes) on building acoustics. - write standards, influence groups, prioritize impact to Company
- Identify & lobby key Asian government and NGO decision makers in building design & construction to include acoustics within IEQ requirements.
- Identify and support Asian university research on building acoustics and human performance.
- Make presentations on Architectural Acoustic Design to Asian architects and interior design professionals, government & academic groups, technical societies and associations.
- Understands strengths & weaknesses of product line vs. competition with regard to acoustical performance and works to mitigate product performance gaps.
- Uses LEAN principles, where applicable, to improve the overall effectiveness of assigned activities.

Requirements:
BS/BA degree in Architecture, Engineering, Physics, Music or other related technical field; and an MS degree in one of the following technical areas - Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. It is preferred that the candidate shall have received at least one degree from a USA based university or college, or practiced professionally within the USA. It is also preferred for the candidate to have a Ph.D. in an acoustics related field. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in project implementation and will have worked in either a product development, laboratory or consulting environment for a minimum of 4 years in a lead technical role in one of the following:
- Providing Acoustical Consultation to architects and building owners on the design, evaluation, and performance of architectural systems and buildings.
- Teaching at the university level in: building acoustics, mechanical system noise and vibration control, architecture and human performance, building materials/system design and acoustics.
- Researching at the university level in material design and acoustic performance, system design and acoustic performance, Architecture/Acoustics/Human Performance.
