Senior Vice President Wholesale Credit Risk Management, Special Credit Unit

Risk
Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, information security, operational, credit, pension, insurance, compliance, regulatory, market, reputation and geopolitical risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

Work in close collaboration with senior management and the Business RMs to formulate strategies on SCU Advisory accounts or accounts under Credit and Negotiation management and follow through the milestones to prevent the accounts from further deterioration into NPL, minimizing the need for impairment provisions through an efficient and effective recovery / work-out process and with appropriate regard to commercial, legal and reputational considerations.
Manage the Bank's corporate Non-Performing Loan portfolio primarily in the PRD but potentially within other parts of the country by implementing account strategies to maximize recovery and minimize loss, including the need for impairment provisions.
Provide know-how, expertise and problem solving skills within the area of corporate recovery and workout to the Risk function and to coordinate account strategies, recovery and workout efforts across these areas, as appropriate.
Provide credit advisory services to CMB and GB on Watch List and other accounts, as appropriate.
To develop and maintain contact with legal, accounting, insolvency, valuation professionals and NPL investors (for restructure and recovery activities).
To provide accurate and timely management information and regulatory reporting, properly handle various regulatory surveys and enquiries.
Facilitate improvements on credit lending by drawing observations from incoming accounts and disseminate learning points through training opportunities and Lessons Learned.
Frequent travels within PRD and potentially other parts of China when required.



Qualifications


To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

Typically qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Finance, Commecial law, Accounting or related field. Over 8 years expereince in commecial Bank or relevant fields, especially in post-lending and collection devision.

Experience
Exposure to dealing with critical accounts and NPLs, to manage the distressed portfolio at bank level;
Has good network with external professionals, government authorities, Risk Executives in other financial institutions, asset management companies and debt dealers.
Working across all levels of the organization to understand cross-functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of credit and other risks at both a strategic level and at the Global Business level.
Good understanding of HSBC overall business dynamics.
Experience of creating and leading a team and driving forward under a strategic framework with demonstrated results.

Skills
University education, Master of Business Administration or Chartered Financial Analyst is a significant plus
Work experience with stressed or distressed assets, workout and recovery
Significant experience in non-performing loan or credit space
Able to work under pressure
Utilize rational problem solving and lateral thinking skills
Strong communication skills
Proficiency/Fluency in English, Mandarin of Chinese, as well as writing skill is a must.
