Ford is growing our Autonomous Driving team in China. The primary purpose of our work is to develop autonomous vehicle solution, integrating with smart city for the unique Chinese environment. The team leads our self-driving car program in China, works closely with local partners and connect with Ford’s global network and resource.

Position Duties:
Candidates for consideration will be responsible for supporting research and development of SAE Level 4 autonomous vehicle capabilities.

Job responsibilities may encompass:

• Align among stakeholders and define test goal.
• Develop test case considering various traffic, weather, lighting scenarios and vehicle configuration, covering test vehicle’s operational design domain
• Manage test plan, allocate test vehicle and document test vehicle usage, manage vehicle configuration
• Debug and solve vehicle hardware and software issue, maintain the vehicle operation
• Ensure test safety. Design and facilitate AV testing safety procedure
• Generate test report, communicate test results to teams and management
• Support in acquiring necessary license and permits for AV testing
• Collaborate with other software and hardware engineer to build automated testing infrastructure
• Support setting up virtual test environment, and tailor specific simulation environment to support test needs
• Develop and maintain physical accurate sensor models and develop virtual ECUs
• Develop simulation engine interface and integration with vehicle platform
• Build virtual test scenario library, generate test case from test drive data and other resources
• Implement close-loop simulation, visualize and validate simulation result, provide insight on SDS improvement

Required Position Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related field
• 3-year experience in system testing, integration, validation and release process
• Experience in using version control tools (Git/JIRA)
• Strong understanding of automated driving simulator architecture and components
• Knowledge of ISO 26262, SOTIF and APICE
• Proficient C++ or Python software development skills

Desired qualifications include:

• Familiar with tools including CANoe, CANape, Matlab/Simulink etc.
• Development experience of vehicle dynamic simulation, CarSim or CarMaker
• Experience with game development based on commercial game engines such as Unity or Unreal
• Experience of sensor simulation, including camera, Lidar and radar
• Embedded software knowledge
• Experience with robotic/vehicle middleware framework (ROS)
• Interdisciplinary background in science and engineering

Other:
Candidates will be expected to:

• Possess strong oral and written language skills in English
• Working in a team-based project from inception to finish across multiple disciplines
• Work closely and effectively with external partners – corporations, universities and automotive suppliers
• Publish technical reports, papers and/or pursue Intellectual Property rights
