Ford is growing our Autonomous Driving team in China. The primary purpose of our work is to develop autonomous vehicle solution, integrating with smart city for the unique Chinese environment. The team leads our self-driving car program in China, works closely with local partners and connect with Ford’s global network and resource.
Position Duties:

Position Duties:
Candidates for consideration will be responsible for supporting research and development of SAE Level 4 autonomous vehicle capabilities.
Job responsibilities may encompass:
- Scout available SDS hardware component, create evaluation criteria, and identify lead player and potentially support sourcing activities
- Understand SDS hardware components and architecture, identify its requirement on vehicle platform
- Ensure vehicle platform properly provide support (e.g. power, cooling) for SDS hardware
- Evaluate SDS solution and its compliance with Functional Safety and SOTIF standard
- Test and validate sensor functionalities, support sensor calibration and simulation sensor model development
- Develop and facilitate sensor related test cases, considering traffic and other environment factors
- Understand SDS software components and interfaces, analyze software subsystems
- Use systematic approach to decompose vehicle level requirements into functional and performance requirements for SDS software and hardware components, derive technical specifications and lead implementation
- Identify SDS system integration requirements, coordinate vehicle integration and verify SDS functionalities.
- Coordinate among stakeholders to define ODD in detail
Required Position Qualifications:
- Master’s in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field
- Familiar with multiple operating systems such as Windows, UNIX, Linux, GPU processing, etc.
- Knowledge in Self Driving domains (e.g. Perception, Environment Model, Decision Making, …)
- Knowledge of OpenCV, TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, pandas, and caffe
- Proficient C++ or Python software development skills
- Experience in using version control tools (Git/JIRA)
- Experience with robotic/vehicle middleware framework (ROS)
- Experience with unit testing, system validation, software release
Desired qualifications include:
- PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field
- Automotive system development experience is a plus
- Experience designing system architecture
- Ability to evaluate and guide AI-based algorithm development
- Experience with deep learning based object detection, sensor fusion, and pedestrian intent prediction
Other:
Candidates will be expected to:
- Possess strong oral and written language skills in English
- Working in a team-based project from inception to finish across multiple disciplines
- Work closely and effectively with external partners – corporations, universities and automotive suppliers
- Publish technical reports, papers and/or pursue Intellectual Property rights
