JOB DESCRIPTION
Scope: Manage the product process from development / transfer through end use, including application, performance, cost parameters, and service in accordance with business unit objectives. Works closely with Industry Business Director & Market Manager on developing and executing business development plans
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Product Management Functions
In conjunction with GW Smith, develops and maintains the product line to meet objectives of the business plan. "Owns the business unit product offering."
Directs product specifications and application requirements. Decides on products for customer applications and recommends extensions to product portfolio under the guidance of GW Smith and regional needs. Sets regional priorities for the process of product development (transfer of technology) for execution by the primary technology centre (including complex technical service support).
Initiate activities to get the technical problem solved. Advises on whether the proposed solution must be paid for or is free of charges. Stimulates the development of advantaged products and filling of portfolio gaps in conjunction with GW Smith. Determines the importance of regional laboratory orders. Distributes laboratory certificates per the client request.
Holds presentations for customer on technical/product related subjects. Organizes meetings with customers in co-operation with marketing and sales/key account management, in order to discuss product specifications and product/technological developments.

Responsible for technical management and preservation of product performance as required by customers.
Keeps knowledge up-to-date in the area of product development & industry trends
2. Internal Project Marketing
Maintain a regular reporting (Monthly written report, w/ project tracking spreadsheet)
Generate Case Studies with China Marketing Department based upon current and new business
3. Commercial Business Development
Determines the cost-price of the product in conjunction with commercial leaders
Develop critical account plans including all competitive sales, process and application details
Research, identify & develop targets and sales opportunities through these relationships
Work closely with GW Smith to identify and coordinate support needs when necessary
Maintains a general awareness of Grease activity in other regions
Capable of allocating sales forecast and drive pricing and negotiations
Displays ’s products using samples, MSDS, Application Sheets, or Customer Testimonials as appropriate, while emphasizing the features & benefits of and its products and services.
Follows trials and works with along with appropriate sales individual to document impact product has obtained on the application
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Position holder is experienced in a technical management Marketing Development position and has process knowledge in the appropriate industry (Steel, Metalworking, Mining, Fluid Power, Can). Position holder is a technical Commercial expert, is able to work with GW Smith to understand and solve technical process related problems at customers and has good people management skills.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. In addition must possess excellent communica¬tion abilities, is fluent in English (verbal and writing) and a second regional language
Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision.
