Job Description ( Responsibilities ):

Under the direction of the Tech-Center Director, the Application Engineer is responsible for product engineering related activities. Specifically, Application Engineers are to manage the DVP&R requirements set forth by KS Kolbenschmidt GmbH and the customer to ensure the timely release and production launch of the subject product.  Required skills include: Chinese and English speaking and writing, communication with customers, with sales/production partners and with KS engineering facilities, presentation skills and leadership skills which facilitate coordination of ZNKS sales and manufacturing resources in an effort to fulfill the company’s customer satisfaction goals.

1. Direct, guide, coordinate and provide technical expertise in the development of the product designs that meet customer specifications, production and delivery requirements and cost limitations
2. Be the technical customer representative responsible for defining the special product characteristics  and the product design 
3. Be the KS representative and on-site expert at the customer, acquire, organize and analyze customer goals and engine requirements (M0.5-M7), set & agree validation program DVPR and monitor that KS min validation requirements are met
4. Define and monitor sub budgets (Design, FEA, Rig test, RPA – run parts analysis)
5. Monitor the customer APQP (pre-validation readiness & successful validation, pre-M4)Perform product design analysis and inspect and diagnose engine tested pistons (RPA), issue resulting reports to the customer
6. Coordinate performance test, perform failure analysis, compare results with functional targets based on customer specification (define and fix design and verification) and time schedule 
7. Maintain and build working relationships across different departments (adv. engineering, suppliers, quality, etc.) and hierarchy levels and ensure proper management of the KS brand image.
8. Ensure voice of customer is brought in the development project/KS organization.
9. Develop a good working relationship with applicable counterparts throughout the organization
10. Leading or participating in task force teams especially when customer related
11. Give guidance, strategic and technical input in the first concept design project phase
12. Assume special projects as needed

Requirements:

1.Education:

Master/bachelor’s degree in engineering as minimum.

2.Work experience:

3—5 years working experience is preferred. 

3.Reasoning ability:

Ability to do presentations. 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications and product drawings. 

Ability to prepare reports and documentation.  

Ability to effectively communicate with all relevant parties (customers, internal associates, sales/production professions).

4.Language skills:

English and Chinese (speaking and writing). Other languages like German are preferred. 

5.Others:

Be able to travel frequently (domestic and international).

Driver’s license.

KSPG (China) Investment Co., Ltd. is the regional headquarters of Rheinmetall Automotive in China set up at Shanghai Hongqiao CBD (Commercial Business District) in 2015, acknowledged by Shanghai government as Multinational Enterprise Headquarters, and manages all the Rheinmetall Automotive subsidiaries in China, including JVs and WOEFs.

Rheinmetall Automotive numbers among the world’s biggest auto parts suppliers with three premium brands Kolbenschmidt, Pierbur and Motorservice. The core competencies of the Rheinmetall Group’s Automotive division include reduction of pollution and fuel consumption; downsizing and friction minimization; as well as thermo-management and electro-mobility. Its product range encompasses exhaust gas recirculation and secondary air systems, actuators, solenoid valves and pumps, pistons, engine blocks, structural components made of aluminum, and plain bearings. Furthermore, the company supplies electric drives for vehicles, aluminum housings for batteries and electric motors, as well as electrically powered pumps. Today Rheinmetall Automotive's products can be found in passenger cars, light and heavy commercial vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and large engines, e.g. for maritime applications. We are focusing greatly in the business development in China, as China is already the second biggest market for Rheinmetall Automotive worldwide. Rheinmetall Automotive set up its first joint venture (Kolbenschmidt Huayu Piston Co., Ltd.) in 1997 with HASCO, subsidiaries of SAIC. In 2001, Rheinmetall Automotive set up another joint Venture with HASCO (HASCO KSPG Nonferrous Components(Shanghai)Co.,Ltd.). Now, there are eleven companies in China, four WOFEs and seven JVs in 19 locations, such as Shanghai, Kunshan, Yantai, Wuhan, Nanjing and Chongqing.
