Responsibilities:
- Assist in China regional financial control system continuous improvement such as policy/guidance setup, controlling system review, process/procedures improvement and implementation.
- Support cross-division process efficiency and workflow improvement projects, best practice sharing projects and system automation projects.
- Assistant in China group company (RHQ) controlling and accounting activities, including
? Monthly GL, routine accrual and expense booked properly;
? Monthly financial closing and reporting before due date and submit the monthly CPM reports on time and ensure the quality;
? Cooperate with BIS team for ERP system projects and ensure the quality of reporting system and drive relevant improvements
? In charge of RHQ annual financial external audit and annual tax review by government;
? Maintain and Conduct the Finance Policies to align with the Group, Division and Region requirements, lead the internal audits;
- Support local finance team to build and maintain heathy cooperative relationship with local tax authority and be good connection point of the group tax function to local government function.
- Be responsible for updating the local tax policy and procedures to management team; Identify and evaluate tax benefits, implement regional value adding tax opportunities.
- Support with the half year and year-end tax financial report review for the APAC region, like the deferred assets and liabilities, deferred tax, etc.
- Perform APAC tax work in supporting to Group Senior Tax Manager, including
? The implementation and local monitoring of tax policy, best practice and minimum operating standards to ensure compliance with corporate tax policy
? The identification and management of tax risk and those specifically arising from tax audits. The implementation of procedures to manage and reduce this risk, as part of the Tax Function’s overall risk framework.
? The hands-on management of the annual tax filing and compliance process alongside the outsourced tax compliance function to ensure accurate and timely filed tax returns.
? Assisting finance teams with production of supporting documentation for inter-company charges and other transfer pricing matters.
? The provision of day to day tax support, working where necessary with tax advisors, to Smiths’ businesses operating:
? Support local financial controllers in new business initiatives, supply chain and contracting models and local tax audits, and on wider tax related projects including changing regulation, planning opportunities and M&A.
? Work effectively with other sub-teams in the tax function including the US, UK, transfer pricing teams; - Complete other project tasks assigned by China Finance Controller
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, tax or business, or above.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Familiar with job related government regulation and policy.
- Familiar with related tax regulation and policy.
- Familiar with tax accounting concepts for group reporting
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, energetic and has excellent collaboration and influencing skills in order to be able to demonstrate personal credibility to the business; Ability to work effectively and independently while managing concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Team player with strong communication skills;
- Able to communicate effectively with local team, group teams and tax authorities.
- Highly organized, keen attention to detail;
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in English language, spoken as well as written.
- Good computer skill (Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office).
- CPA and International professional firm experience as plus.
- Experience in MNC as plus
- Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) a plus
Planning and Decision Making:
- Participate in China Controlling system planning and execution
- Participate in supporting for APAC group tax planning initiatives, forecasting and projects which support Smiths’ overall tax strategy.
- Making related decisions for China group company day to day accounting activities
- Key contributor to controlling work in China with impact to the control system stabilization and effectiveness
- Partnered with Group tax team and Reginal Leadership team to ensure tax work properly performed in APAC region
- Information provided could impact Regional group and divisional management decisions
