Aviation Security Supervisor

  

 

  

Job Summary

  

The Aviation Security Supervisor contributes to the development and deployment of aviation security programs. He/She participates in the development and dissemination of aviation security procedures, training, quality assurance, reports, and aviation security systems.

  

This position conducts aviation security audits and participates in the examination of audit findings. He/She analyzes historical/current data to identify trends and to determine root causes and solutions. This position cultivates key relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., Operations, IE, Transportation, IT, HR, etc.).

  

He/She supervises others within the department.

  

 

  

Job Duties

  

Maintains Aviation Security Policies and Procedures

  

• Monitors, maintains, and updates global aviation security policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

• Reviews and assesses new/revised regulations and requirements to determine the impact on the organization and to provide updates.

• Participates in the analysis, development, and implementation of compliance procedures to ensure alignment and compliance with regulations, industry standards, and UPS policies.

• Contributes to the development and implementation of security programs to reduce risks in UPS facilities and the transportation network and to ensure compliance.

        

Develops and Delivers Security Training

  

• Develops security training to ensure regulatory compliance and to support optimal operations.

• Delivers training to communicate security policies and procedures and to drive a culture of security awareness.

• Monitors training compliance to increase awareness and adherence to regulations and UPS policies.

• Collaborates with internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure training objectives are clearly communicated and followed.

        

Conducts Aviation Security Audits

  

• Supports the aviation security audit program to ensure facility and region audits are conducted on a timely basis and reflect a high level of scrutiny.

• Collaborates with aviation security partners to review audit findings and provide input on program improvements.

• Conducts aviation security audits to ensure regulatory and company compliance.

• Participates in the examination of audit findings to mitigate risk throughout the organization.

        

Conducts Aviation Security Trend Analysis and Investigations

  

• Analyzes historical and current data and identifies trends to determine root causes and solutions.

• Conducts security investigations to respond to regulatory and company policy non-compliance incidents (e.g., regulatory notices, audit findings, process improvements, etc.) and to address low to moderately complex and sensitive security incidents.

• Contributes to the development of investigation summaries and formal regulatory responses to preserve UPS air carrier operating certificates and to ensure compliance.

• Contributes to the assessment, development, and implementation of security solutions (e.g., training, policies, procedures, etc.) to address deficiencies identified during investigations.

        

Develops Relationships and Promotes Security Objectives

  

• Represents UPS with external industry associations and organizations to remain current with security and regulatory knowledge, to assist in shaping regulations, and to generate security solutions.

• Cultivates key relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, Legal, Compliance, etc.) to ensure security objectives are developed and executed in a comprehensive, cost-effective, and synergistic manner.

• Interacts with law enforcement agencies to obtain guidance and to remain current with security trends and knowledge.

• Collaborates with the Information Technology group to update operational systems in accordance with Security's business requirements.

        

Contributes to Project Management

  

• Contributes to the development of project plans to ensure the project will be completed on time and according to specifications.

• Monitors project plans to ensure timelines and milestones are met.

• Assists with the project schedule, identification of resources, launch, communication plan, and deployment to support the success of the project.

• Compiles project documents and reports to monitor, document, and communicate progress and results.

        

Supervises and Develops Others

  

• Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.

• Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.

• Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.

• Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.

• Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS’s policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
