Job Description – Business Development Manager – Chromatography

POSITION PROFILE: (Basic Purpose of Position)
The BD Manager of Chromatography will take full responsibilities in developing business for Chromatography products (column, chromatography resins, and relative products) in China. The focus of this role includes develop the sales strategy, update the application and sales tools, manage the new product launching process, coordinate the technical support from Lab application team, and define the market trend. This person will work very closely with Sales, Lab, and Marketing team with frequent travel to customer side.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

· Define and set the commercial direction for the business within China by utilizing product portfolio and technical strength to drive increased customer value and market penetration,

· Work closely with sales team to expand the customer base, develop the channel and go to market strategy to maximize commercial coverage,

· Establish, maintain, and strengthen customer relationships with end user, channel partners, KOLs, and associations of the Chromatography industry,

· Drive collaboration with other commercial and functional teams across a highly matrixed structure to create best practices, references and provide detailed product feedback,

· Align with product manager to improve the pricing setting to keep the competitiveness on the market,

· Provide product technology application evaluation, technical comparison forms, market direction and key selling points of products for sales team,

· Spearhead the launching of new products and product localizations activities,

· Responsible for the communication of best practice in chromatography throughout the Avantor China sales team;

· Work with marketing actively in promoting chromatography solutions in China. These initiatives include but not limited to product brochures, application notes, seminars, tradeshows, E-commerce, and WeChat promotion, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

· Strong background in Analytical industry with extensive work experience in Chromatography business,

· Master’s degree or above, major in analytical chemistry, chromatography application or equivalent major,

· At least 5 year working experience in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development roles,

· Fluent communication in English,

· Goal-oriented with strong critical thinking, problem solving and execution capabilities,

· Comfort working in a fast-paced, and start-up environment and be capable of reacting swiftly to changing business demands,

· Fluency in Chinese and English required.

· Ability to work independently within a wider team of technical engineers;

· Excellent verbal and written communication, proposal and presentation skills;

· Strong communication skills and organizational talent;

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

· Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level, with occasional regional travel to customer locations.

· Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

· A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

· Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10lbs.

· 20% of travel is required.
