SUMMARY:

The Nursing Affairs Officer is responsible to assist the Chief Nurse in the daily operations of the nursing administration department. The primary responsibilities of the position include: manage staff within the nursing affairs and patient education department.

The Nursing Affairs Officer will also assist the Chief Nurse in planning for manpower, resources, and budgets for the nursing affairs office as well as problem solve issues that may arise. This also includes handling of staff disciplinary and professional misconduct issues. He/she will also be involved in implementing and overseeing new nursing programs an initiatives and support various Nursing Directors as needed.

The NAO reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is a member of the nursing executive management team.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT:

Supervise the Nursing affairs related activities, ensuring nursing licensing and accreditation are on track with new staff as well as existing.

Monitor the nursing training and continuing nursing education initiatives including other licenses validity such as BLS, ACLS, PALS.

Promote collegiality and teamwork environment.

Supports the Nursing Practice, Quality and Safety Director to identify operational gaps between various nursing departments and proposes new initiatives for better nursing care.

Assists the Chief Nurse in maintaining and updating various nursing positions and job descriptions.

Lead various nursing activities such as Nurses Day celebration, Nursing recruitment open house as well as external first-aid events where Jiahui Nurses needs to support.

Collaborate with Nursing Practice, Quality and Safety Director on the development and implementation of policies to ensure quality care and patient safety.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making; Communicate effectively to ensure prompt and proper information exchanges and issue resolution; Delegate appropriately providing adequate direction and follow-up to the nursing staff under your supervision.

Assists the Chief Nurse in the development of the annual goals and plan for implementation of the services.

Coordinate departmental meetings and communication initiatives for sharing information, problem solving, and directing activities within the nursing service.

Review minutes of meetings for nursing executive teams.

Effectively manage relationships and resolving conflicts.

Uphold service quality and support management of patient and family feedback.

Demonstrate strategic thinking skills, develop new strategies, policies, processes, and solutions that will create value for the nursing department.

Ability to prioritize in a changing environment , multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Holding valid PRC nursing license preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or above. Postgraduate degree in Nursing preferred; Masters in Healthcare Management or other relevant field is acceptable.

At least 10 years of clinical practice in an ambulatory setting or in the hospital, with at least 3 years of nursing managerial experience.

Overseas experience preferred.

Fluent in spoken and well written English preferred.
