Job Responsibilities 

A Backend Engineer at BI X builds the backbone of full scale applications related to either human or animal health. In those initiatives, the employee works collaboratively and iteratively through design and development to deliver fully functioning services that meet business goals. A Junior Backend Engineer works closely together with Data Scientists and Frontend Engineers, but also with UX Designers on the Scrum team.

-Owns the entire backend of a product including its architecture, delivery pipeline and runtime stability. Major contributions to open source.

-Design and develop the business logic and backend systems of one product, owning the entire architecture. -Work closely with Frontend Engineers to design and develop functional, performing and complete APIs. -Work closely with Data Scientists and UX Designers on the team to provide the best product.

-Decipher existing software systems and be able to connect application to required data sources. -Write both unit and integration tests, and develop automation tools for daily tasks.

-Develop high quality, well documented, and efficient code.

-Create chapter knowledge, e.g about new technologies.

-Be a good liaison and able to communicate effectively.

-Able to develop a framework design and develop testing strategy/write testing framework.

-Able to coach, negotiate and mediate complex problems in the team. Mentor less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or comparable experience -First-hand experience of the intense collaboration in an agile software development team

-English working proficiency and communication skills (verbal and written)

 Technical Expertise:

-Expert on backend technologies (5+ years). 

-Thought leader within the context - extensive visibility and experience in the field beyond frameworks - and en par with the latest developments (e.g. microservice architecture).

-Must have knowledge to configure/deploy different environments and stages of development.

-Agile Experience: Owns the architecture in the Scrum team

-Able to guide, coach, negotiate and mediate complex problems among teams.-Able to communicate the vision

-Able to get to the point according to the audience (ability to phrase complex things)

-Active contributor: Publishing, speaking, must have contributions to open source
