Responsibilities:

• Develop disease field screening protocols for major corn diseases
• Partner with breeders and trialing leads to design, lead and manage field inoculated trials at both Spring[KLC1]  and Summer corn areas. Main responsibilities include: Pathogen isolates collection and validation, inoculum production and distribution, inoculation, and disease rating 
• Partner with AGS for disease resistance QTL discovery and deployment
• Characterize China corn pipelines for disease resistance
• Work as a key member during annual HPC meeting for corn advancement
• Interact and leverage Syngenta global plant health teams and collaborate with external plant pathology experts  

Requirements

• Ph.D in plant pathology or related field, preferred with over 2 years’ experience in relevant fields or MS in plant pathology with over 5 years’ experience
• Strong knowledge on plant disease phenotyping and hands-on experiences on at least one of virus, bacteria, and fungal diseases is required
• Excellent English communication skills
