GroupM is the leading global media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a data engineer to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for the data & tech products development, by improving existing products/components or building new products/components, to strengthening GroupM data-driven strategic planning and insights capabilities, better support GroupM business from data & tech prospective.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to: Head of Development of [m]PLATFORM Data and Technology.

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

• Understand the positioning and the key values of [m]PLATFORM data & tech products as an agency tool and how they work technically in a detailed manner
• Understand the using workflow/tools/framework of [m]PLAOTFORM data & tech team
• Assist leader to do some of the web backend component/API development
• Deliver 1 new data & tech product or component to the business

In six months:

• Independently work for some web backend component/API development of [m]PLATFORM project
• Establish a good working relationship with both internal and external teams across local, regional and global
• Deliver 2 to 3 new data & tech products or components to the business

In 12 months:

• Take over some projects of [m]PLATFORM independently
• Take over APIs development for internal/external integration
• Deliver at least 5 new data & tech products or components to the business

What your day job looks like at GroupM:

• Communicate with multiple internal and external parties, like global product team, local key subject matter experts, agencies, external technique vendors, external data partners etc.
• Local data & tech projects or components design, development, deployment and supporting
• Support local key subject matter experts for external technique communication, analysing or even quick POC
• Work with internal development resource from other business units for the products or components development, project management

What you’ll bring:

• Your experience on the web application backend development
• Your passion on the software development
• Your high self-learning and self-adaptive ability

Minimum qualifications:

• 3 years’ experience on python web application backend development
• Experience on API development for internal/external integration
• Knowledge of Postgresql, MySQL, SQL Server
• Familiar with docker is a plus
• Familiar with CI/CD is a plus
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English

Ability to work independently is essential
