Duties and Responsibilities of Business Analyst

1. Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues
2. Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports
3. Review a variety of areas including operations, purchasing, inventory, distribution and facilities
4. Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimate models
5. Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
6. Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
7. Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
8. Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
9. Construct workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications
10. Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions
11. Plan and coordinate the development of primary and secondary market research studies in support of strategic planning and specific marketing initiatives
12. Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
13. Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
14. Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
15. Maintain user confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
16. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Skills and Competencies Required by an Business Analyst

1. proficiency in various programming technologies coupled with expertise in hardware and networking technologies 
2. MySQL/MongoDB experience strongly preferred
3. Strong Microsoft Excel/Access with VBA experience recommendedPython (or PHP or Java or Go) 
4. Programming skill highly recommended
5. Effective project management skills and ability to resolve critical problems
6. Sound analytical skills, mathematical skills and ability to solve critical problems
7. Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
8. Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational
9. Ability to work independently and with others
10. Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
11. Ability to work under extensive pressure and deliver efficient results on time
