Job Title：Technical Development Manager - North China
Report to: Territory Manager - North China
Location: Shanghai

Purpose of the position

1. To develop technical know-how for E&E industry, especially in Electrical, New Energy and Auto E&E, to drive multiplications for successful application and product knowledges, in order to achieve profitable business growth in the region.

2. To support development of new business through the generation of technical value propositions, application, processing and design knowledge (market/application, product, processing) at existing and new customers/projects in multi-industries.

3. To share best practices in applications and processing with relevant colleagues in and outside the region. Be part of and contribute to global network led by the technical expertise.

The Position:

1. Key areas of accountability/responsibility approach the aligned industry and dig out the potential opportunities based on DSM product portfolio.

2. Responsible to implement projects and lead validation of new projects (at customers)

3. Responsible to support AM getting technical approvals from customers / end users, provide product and mold advice to customers regarding design aspects

4. Responsible to translate customer requirements into product specifications to recommend existing products or, if needed, to draw up product development specifications (consultation with R&T to submit PDRs)

5. Responsible to make proposals and recommendations regarding: optimum grades, processing, part & tooling design.

6. Responsible to assess/initiate IP opportunities with respect to application development (optional)

7. Responsible to collect and report on competitor products and developments at customers

8. Responsible to develop and describe application knowledge (eg application datasheets, value propositions)

9. Responsible to spot and report on commercial opportunities from the market, concerning new applications at customer’s sites

10. Frequent Travel is required

11. Generic value proposition development and improvement

12. Network building in the industry

13. Application Knowledge building & propagation

14. To advice customers on material selection, processing and design

15. Be part of and contribute to global network on polymer processing led by technical expertise.

The Ideal:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in science or technology

2. Knowledge of industries and markets, in-depth knowledge of products and/or applications

3. Good verbal and written communication skills (English)and social skills

4. Know how on/experience on processing and design

5. Extensive experience in application and processing of engineering plastics in the Electrical industry

6. Extensive experience in product design/testing/regulations/applications/VA-VE /market trends of different devices used in power distribution Is desirable
