JOB FUNCTION:

Under minimal supervision, independently plans and manages basic projects and defines scope with assistance. Supports the planning and direction of project schedules and budgets. Supports the management of project activities

generally within a department or functional area. Projects may include cost studies,

assessments of operations, methods, and procedures, and reviews of organization structures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

*1. Serves as a project lead to manage basic projects and define scope for the project with support. Coordinates laboratory activities and instructions to lab staff, scheduling of testing and reviewing of lab work to keep project completion dates.

*2. Studies and understands testing technology and standards for scope of responsibility with assistance.

*3. Supports the customer in the lab with their interaction with the laboratory staff on customer testing and equipment setup. Finds solutions for any issues that arise whilst testing in the laboratory.

*4. Takes the lead on any project status communications technical issues, test standard explanations, certification requirements and UL procedures and requirements. Works with the team to resolve any customer issues.

*5.Supports sales staff in determining project specifications, such as cost, time and sample requirements for customers and areas of responsibility that are assigned.

*6. Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques specifically for project process and document management.

*7. Travel may be possible to attend witness testing at customer locations or at other UL locations, as well as attend industry related events.

*8. Performs other duties as directed.

University degree plus 6+ years of laboratory general management and/or supporting experience.

Experience of laboratory establishment project and laboratory quality management will be preferred.

Demonstrated ability to independently identify needs for projects or programs, formulate objectives, plan and execute projects and/or programs, and manage programs.
