POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose

To support the business forecast and the multi-trains large size ASU project machinery engineering execution needs.

Nature and Scope

This job position will be assigned to perform machinery specification development, vendor design drawing and spec review and make sure the vendor manufacturing is meeting spec, and conduct machinery commissioning and start up for all AP Shanghai executed Cryosystem ASU projects. It will require the individual who possesses the relative high level of machinery experience and background and is able to perform the required machinery spec development responsibilities and provide proper judgment in reviewing vendor machinery design drawing.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work on engineering detail of the rotating machines and auxiliaries in air separation field, such as compressor, steam turbine, blower, cryogenic pump, cooling tower and water system, filter and silencer. Including technical specification, bid evaluation, vendor drawing reviews

• Support project manager and other function engineers on detail plant design activities from machinery. Support plant P&ID and HAZOP review system engineering activities

• Develop machinery equipment commissioning procedures as project base. Lead on-job project commissioning and startup machinery activities.

• Participate machinery equipment shop performance tests and follow up the punch items with team

• Proactively participate global machinery community activities, share lesson learned experiences and best practices with global team.

• One of the important tasks is to work closely with E&M team to identify qualified local vendors to maximize the localization of equipment manufacture within China

• Work on technical investigation, analysis and trouble shootings, and clarify engineering and technical issues with vendors to meet project specific requirement. Provide sound judgment and suggestions to critical technical decision making.

• Work on machinery lesson learn event and initiative continuous improvement activities

• Communication with Air Products technical personnel and management locally and globally

• Supporting project execution activities. Share experiences/ best practices with junior engineers. Provides necessary technical training to junior team members to accelerate machinery team capabilities.

  JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor Degree above in Mechanical Engineering related majors with at least 10 years of engineering experience in compressor, steam turbine, blower, pump, cooling towers etc. areas in Air Separation, Oil & Gas, manufacturing or Petro Chemical Industry. Steam Turbine/ Gas turbine background will be the most desire on both engineering design and site trouble shooting experience.

• Must be fully conversant with internationally recognized codes API, ASME, TEMA, IEC, etc. Familiarity with the requirements of local China codes is highly essential.

• Besides experience in machinery engineering, the basic knowledge on pressure vessel, process, piping, electrical, control and instrumentation engineering will be a big plus.

• Owns basic management skill, good communication and people skills.

• Must be able to speak and write fluent English and interact with engineers from US, Europe and Asia.
