Associate Research Fellow/ Research Fellow - Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering

Applications are invited for the above post in the Faculty of Science & Engineering based at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China.

Candidates will be required to carry out research projects in area of mechanical and manufacturing engineering covering automotive engineering, CNC machining, sustainable manufacturing, decision-making tools, Life cycle analysis etc, deliver research and contribute to the achievement of specific research objectives; collaborate in writing papers for submission to journals and conferences and prepare progress reports on the results of research; present the results of research at project progress meetings and at conferences; assist in the co-ordination of the research and related administrative tasks, including liaising with external project collaborators; undertake research to conduct assessment of the environmental impact of engineered product products throughout the various stages of product development; and assist in the preparation of grant applications. Candidates must have a PhD degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing or MSc (or shortly to be awarded) with several years of industry experience in the field of mechanical or manufacturing engineering; Excellent Research skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work well in a team and lead when necessary; Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks; Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 133,000 - RMB 233,000 per annum. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. This post will be available from January 2013 and will initially be offered on a fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for a period of up to three years in the first instance. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.

The successful candidate(s) will report to Professor Nabil Gindy, Professor of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Dean of Graduate School, and Vice Provost for Research, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
