General Summary: Be responsible for all China manufactured Household Disposer products. Also responsible for implementing design changes targeted to support the marketplace, improve quality and reduce manufacturing costs. Requires extensive interface and communications with Marketing, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement and other functional areas as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop new products with schedules and test plans to ensure that the design meets safety, quality, performance, and economic goals and standards.
2. Design and model mechanical components for an existing or new product which meet the specifications and guidelines set for the project by the Project Charter while taking into account manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, agency requirement, fit and function, and the aesthetics of the components.
3. Prepare/review engineering documentation such as New Parts Releases (NPR), Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and Part and Process Approvals (PPA).
4. Identify potential design related cost and quality improvement opportunities. Develop the required test plans and schedules to qualify and implement.
5. Work with designers to insure proper fit, alignment, etc. using various tolerance stacks up methods and verify that the design intent has been met.
6. Work with Advanced Manufacturing Engineers for manufacturing options.
7. Work with Procurement Engineer for sourcing prototype parts and purchased component qualifications.
8. Work with reliability group for product qualification plans.
9. Prepare and maintain engineering project files. Provide written and oral reports relating to project status and plans.
10. Provide engineering assistance for plant and customer support.
11. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned based on scope of projects assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Bachelor and above degrees, majoring in mechanical engineering or related disciplines;
2. At least 5 years engineering experience;
3. Knowledge of component design and material selections, specifically plastic component design is highly desirable
4. Fluent English in oral & written;
5. 3D CAD experience required, experience with NX software a plus;
6. Good communication skills, teamwork spirit and ability to work independently.
