Position Reports to:

Unit Leader-Polymer Additives Department



Summary: Versatile Process Engineer for a stand alone Cytec production unit located on site owned and operated by others (Monarch Coatings). Responsible for supporting all areas of Unit Operations including process, safety, quality and maintenance. The individual will get exposure and experience to direct manufacturing supervision by acting as back-up to both the Unit Leader and the Unit Day Supervisor



Primary Responsibilities:



Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)-Support the safe operation of the unit in compliance with all laws, regulations and Cytec Standards. Demonstrate visible safety leadership with Supervisors and Operators. Interact regularly with both Monarch Coatings and Cytec Engineered Materials SHE departments to ensure requirements are met especially in the area of process safety. Maintain required SHE documents for the department. Assist Unit Leader in SHE performance reporting

Ensure management of change process is utilized. Work with operating staff to improve safe work practices.


Process-On a daily basis, monitor process and product output. Work with department members to optimize process and work flow. Responsible for Management of Change actions for the process.

Recommend process improvement actions both requiring and not requiring capital expenditure.

Maintain and analyze run charts on unit output and productivity.


Quality- Monitor and report on PA product quality performance and initiate investigations in cases of process or raw material deviation, first time not right or off specification. Learn Quality Control analyses performed on PA products. When necessary, oversee training and validation of Monarch Coatings technicians for the ability to properly analyze PA products. Conduct Measurement Systems evaluations and monitor analytical equipment used to complete PA product testing. Develop and maintain necessary Quality System documentation for the Unit.


Maintenance- Together with the Unit Day Supervisor, interact both with on-site maintenance and as necessary outside contractors to properly maintain the PA compounding line as well as the physical facility and utility infrastructure that Cytec is responsible. Develop and maintain Preventative Maintenance and Inspection System for PA unit. Keep organized and accurate records.


Continuous Improvement - Carry out Continuous Improvement activities. Lead new product introduction efforts or capacity expansion projects as needed.Learn the process and be able to prepare and execute capital project requests for the PA unit




QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: 4 year degree in Chemical Engineering


Experience: Minimum 2years experience in a Chemical Manufacturing or Plastics Compounding facility in a direct operations or process support role.



Direct Experience in the operation and maintenance of Twin Screw Extruder units is preferred but not required


Language Skills:

a) Chinese

b) English-must be able to read, write and speak including preparing and making technical presentations, performance evaluations and requests for staffing, equipment or other assistance.
