Job Title: Business Development Manager – Paper Barrier

Report to: Business Manager

Business Unit: DSM Coating Resins Speciality

Location: Shanghai



The Challenge:

Business Development Manager, key roles are to enter into white space with sustainable alternative for PE laminate for paper cup barrier coatings, penetrate into other paper barrier coatings markets as to develop new growth pillar identified by P&P business, in line with the DRF AP Workstream initiatives. The incumbent will be the lead person to drive an deliver the milestone set by the business team, with ultimate goal of meeting the sales target of V2022.

  1. Leverage resource and collaboration with speed within team to ensure project realization.

  2. Having influencing power to convince others on project priority

  3. Motivate sales team to develop new business.

  4. AR controlled for potential customer who has poor financial performance.

  5. Build relation with the leading brand owners

The Position:

  1. Comply with SHE regulation to reduce SHE risks.

  2. Learn and strictly comply with relevant SHE regulations and requirements.

  3. Within the workplace to improve the effectiveness of safety advice.

  4. Timely reporting and treatment of unsafe acts, conditions and events, to remind other employees of the dangerous situation.

  5. Report job injuries, accidents and incidents to the direct leadership.

  6. Time to participate in SHE training and other SHE activities.

  7. Each employee must be responsible for their own safety as well as all others’ in operational areas.

  8. Collaborate with paper cup converters who could benefit from first to market with innovative products, and form a task force to develop resin by leveraging application and R&D resource in China and Europe to address this global opportunity

  9. Leverage DNP contacts and engage with MNC consumer brands (e.g., Starbucks or McDonald’s) to validate the end market requirements in paper cup

  10. Develop and maintain good relations with key players/ customers in the paper packaging industry.

  11. Develop new business and application from the existing market, together with the dedicated AS for this project.

  12. Build relationship with key end users / brand owners for paper barrier packaging products to understand the end users’ market needs. Work closely with the EMEA counterpart to leverage / share / learn from each other on this common project running parallely at both regions.targeting at paper barrier coating industry Lead market activity for product/new application promotion

  13. Coach AM in China to develop Paper Barrier coatings business

  14. To achieve sales target of paper barrier coatings segment

  15. Check credit background of customer and propose credit limits to control the payment risk.

  16. Monitor and co-ordinate within DCR SC team in order to ensure a reliable supply to customers, within DSM’s quality guidelines.

  17. Report fully, regularly and timely in the proper format, including SOL management

  18. Carry out any other instructions from senior management relating to DCR SR, P&P business.



The Ideal:

  1. University degree or above, major in Chemistry

  2. More than 8 years’ experience of relevant paper packaging or paper coatings industry

  3. 5 years Sales & marketing experience facing

  4. Team work spirit

  5. Project management experience required.

  6. Familiar with paper coating industry; familiar with coating resins is a plus

  7. Good command of English in both written and oral
