Out-of-home marketing refers to public third screens,that range from the massive displays you see on on the side of buildings around Times Square and the Hachiko Scramble down to the small tablets often found near checkout counters. The Rakuten Digital Out-of-home (R-DOOH) project is building a platform that powers interactive, digital out-of-home experiences on a variety of displays. It will connect marketers with their target audience, programmatically, any time, anywhere and on any screen.

As head of R-DOOH frontend development, you will be responsible for crafting the web application that marketers and publishers will use to power thousands of displays across the globe. You will also build and lead the team that will shape creative, cutting-edge user experiences across an unlimited variety of display types, locations and settings.

Responsibilities:

• Development of Rakuten Digital Out-of-Home Marketing Platform front end solutions using the latest frontend engineering practices.
• Lead and mentor other members in the front end team. Every member of your team should be able to fill your role, and you should do your utmost to help your team members achieve their professional and personal goals.
• Coordinate initiatives and collaborate with other developers in the Rakuten frontend community. You will be expected to help foster relationships with other Rakuten businesses, and to spread best-practices gleaned from this project throughout the company.

Minimum Qualifications:

• JavaScript, HTML and CSS mastery
• React or Angular mastery
• Extensive experience and comfort working within an Agile development environment ? scrum master certification is preferred, though not required

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex, technical concepts to non-technical personnel. You will also need to foster a collaborative, team-based approach to solving difficult challenges.
• A user-centric point of view that doesn't compromise the customer experience and always strives to improve it. Accepting sub-optimal UX elements because it's a Rakuten system or that's the way it's always been done here's simply will not cut it.
• A passion for bleeding edge technology and a strong interest in the commercialization of it. To succeed and make money in this industry you must absolutely want to be a trend-setter. There are too many messages battling for consumer attention ? the user experience must be fresh and exciting to get any traction.
• An independent self-starter comfortable working with incomplete information. This is an emerging field with standards and approaches being defined as we progress. The successful candidate wants to be the one to help shape these standards.
• A humble, roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-it-done mindset. It is not so important when or where you get the job done as long as it happens on time and under budget.
