Objective:
The Business Development Manager Clean Air is responsible to drive and facilitate accelerated commercialization of existing technologies and new business opportunities within the CC Clean Air platform. Working closely with the Clean Air GM as well as with the Clean Air business manager, this role will assume
a) responsibility and accountability for the commercialization of new opportunities including market identification, competitive intelligence, product positioning and value propositions and strategic alliance assessments and agreements, and
b) being the Clean Air sales person / face to the customer for the existing portfolio of stationary source emissions control catalysts, responsible for region Asia. This does include outlines of technical as well as commercial proposals as well as technical and commercial discussion with existing and new customers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) New business development activities:
- Leads existing projects to market launch.
- Partners with appropriate external and internal stakeholders to identify, evaluate and develop new business opportunities and drive them to successful commercialization.
- Conducts the appropriate collection, analysis and interpretation of data and information as it relates to competitive analysis, market intelligence, trends and benchmarking activities.
- Identifies, develops and implements strategies relative to product positioning and pricing to maximize market penetration and share.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with key influencers as well as key external stakeholders and strategic partners.
- Identifies, develops, validates, and recommends business proposals for growth opportunities via R&D, product / technology licensing, capital investments, M&A, JV and/or strategic alliances.
b) Existing product portfolio and customer base:
- Technical Sales of stationary source emissions control catalysts throughout Asia.
- Demonstrate and sell BASF products for existing and potential accounts. Visit and make presentations to customers, as appropriate.
- Establish solid relationships with customers, fostering an understanding of their business needs and offering BASF solutions.
- Resolve customer issues, coordinating with others as appropriate, to develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Provide consultation to first-line technical inquiries on products and applications and catalyst sizing.
- Provide the strategic input to the Business Manager for growing the business.
- Manage the sales representative network.
- Develop relationships with sales, marketing, technical service and plant personnel to expand business opportunities and resolve issues / concerns.
- Maintains records to track prices, business performance results, market share, market potential, and market and technological trends.
- Assists customer service by processing pricing, sample requests, and product information inquiries.
- Provides technical support to Engineering regarding catalyst installation.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of a Master Degree in a technical discipline (Science / Engineering) An MBA is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in new business development and business management, demonstrated ability to identity business opportunities and develop business plans and commercial strategies.
- Minimum of 3 years of technical sales experience, preferably in air pollution control or related market.
- Prior experience in environmental control technologies is considered an asset.
- Previous experience within a process or project engineering role is desired.
- Professional, self-motivated individual with excellent communications skills, proven leadership skills, problem solving capabilities, project planning experience and familiarity with servicing customers and prioritization.
- Proven ability to organize and meet customer requirements, capable to setting priorities and handling difficult customer relationship situations.
- Must be willing and able to travel over 30% of the time, both within Asia and globally.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct, understand and interpret significant economic, financial and feasibility studies.
