The Software is architected to run from low end SOCs to cutting edge SOCs. We are working on exciting new architectures based on open source software, modern development tools, and agile development practices. Our products are Linux-based with residential gateway, VoIP, IPTV, cloud management, SDN, GUI, WiFi and Ethernet OAM capabilities fully integrated on platforms that deliver from 1 Gbs to 10 Gbs services. Our CPE devices run embedded Linux with multi-core processors, line rate switching and embedded technologies from optical drivers to the latest in wireless. Responsibilities

Responsible for major sub-systems of the next generation CPE devices.

Determine how to deliver and implement major sub-systems by leveraging open source SW, Calix SW to achieve fast time to market.

Work with partners to deliver and implement major sub-systems to achieve fast time to market.

Identify opportunities for process optimization, process redesign, development of processes or implementation of enhanced tools related to Product Development within Calix.

Technical Knowledge

Strong system and SW architecture skills for CPE devices including SW decoupling from H/W.

Excellent knowledge of CPE devices technologies in the carrier space: PON, VDSL/G.fast, Wifi (802.11n, 802.11ac, 802.11ax), Z-Wave, ZigBee, IFTTT, security applications, machine learning, mobile applications, cloud applications, virtualization.

Excellent knowledge of the HW eco system to build CPE devices, the candidate must have worked with suppliers such as Broadcom, Qualcomm, Realtek.

Excellent network with ODM’s manufacturing CPE devices.

Excellent knowledge of networking for wireless devices such as mesh, node steering, band steering.

Excellent knowledge of distros for CPE devices: Open-WRT, DD-WRT, Tomato, LEDE. Excellent knowledge of data path (fast path).

Experience in embedded network management domain (SNMP, TR69, Netconf, Yang), including carrier class provisioning, surveillance, modeling, and scale

Experience with User Interfaces and Usability aspects

Experience in working with 3rd party stack vendors as well as integration partners

Extensive experience with embedded Linux based CPE residential gateway device development

Experience with Ethernet and/or IP services and protocols including RG/NAT/Firewall applications

Deep hands-on technical expertise and a history of developing well-engineered solutions.

Project Knowledge

Excellent understanding of SW lifecycle and SW methodologies (waterfall, iterative, Agile, continuous integration) to deliver high quality products on a fast pace.

Advanced knowledge of software development for multi-product such as code re-use and branching strategy.

Demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new technologies, applications, commercial and open source components and solutions.

Strong quantitative and analytical aptitude. Able to present, organize, and convey complex problems or issues within and across other functions and propose a solution that will address all the issues.

Ability to influence

Demonstrable, strong customer-service attitude.

Excellent time management, and solution-oriented skills.

Must be a team player with the ability to identify issues and be proactive in driving solutions

Proven track record of delivering high quality software on schedule.

Background

• C, C++, XML, Java, Web GUI experience
• Software Configuration Tool such as GIT
• 15+ years’ experience in software development of carrier class networking products
• Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work across language and cultural boundaries and cross functionally meet shared organizational goals
• Proven ability to work across English and Chinese speaking development, PLL, and PM teams to deliver end to end solutions
• Experience in cross-functional English/Chinese co-development projects
• Fluent in in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
• Strong written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• BS in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• MS preferred.
