Job Outline
Applications are invited for the above post supporting the recruitment function of one of the UK’s leading International Recruitment teams. The International Recruitment Team plays a central role in supporting the development and implementation of The University’s Internationalisation Strategy. Nottingham has one of the largest international student bodies of any UK institution; with almost 10,000 non-UK students from more than 140 countries bringing in tuition fee revenue of nearly £80million a year.
China remains an important market from which Nottingham attracts high-quality students. Dedicated in-country presence enables easier relationship building with stakeholders and greater personalised follow-up with students. Based in Shanghai, the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the recruitment function across China and growing the University of Nottingham (UK) brand presence.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, and have experience of working or studying in the UK. The role-holder will need to be able to speak both English and Mandarin. With excellent interpersonal skills, the role-holder will be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a range of audiences including students, parents and recruitment agents. Candidates should have excellent organisational and influencing skills and have the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders. The role holder should be able to demonstrate marketing skills and a strong acumen for recruitment. Therefore, previous experience in higher education recruitment and/or marketing is highly desirable.
Whilst based in Shanghai, the role holder will work closely with colleagues in the UK and will report to the Senior International Relations Manager, based in Nottingham. Significant travel across China and will form a key part of this role and a flexible approach to working patterns is therefore required.

Qualifications
Essential
? Educated to degree level, 2.1 classification or equivalent;
? Excellent literacy, presentation and interpersonal skills with evidence of building effective working relationships at all levels and communicating across a wide range of internal and external audiences;
? High proficiency in English and Chinese language;
? IT skills, highly proficient in the use Microsoft Office;
? Highly organised, self-motivated and committed, with the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and find solutions to complex issues as they arise;
? Solid understanding of the UCAS process and direct recruitment practices;
? Experience of working in a target driven environment and evidence of successfully delivering against those targets;
? Experience of working with stakeholders;
? A flexible approach towards working patterns is needed which will include working weekends and evenings as necessary;
? Frequent travel within China is required, and occasional overseas travel may be required;
? Cross cultural sensitivity and experience of working with other cultures.
Desirable
? Master degree, or a professional qualification in, or significant previous experience of international marketing;
? CRM Management skills;
? Numerate with prior experience of statistical analysis;
? Experience of studying or working in the UK;
? Experience in preparing marketing communications;
? Experience of working with digital marketing platforms;
? Event co-ordination/management.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
? Building excellent working relationships with recruitment agents including telephone, email, and face-to-face communication;
? Conducting regular visits to recruitment agent offices across China to interview prospective student, conduct training and engage with agency staff;
? Hosting workshops and appropriate events to improve agent relations;
? Assessing agent performance;
? Attending agent organised recruitment events;
? Implementing joint strategic plans;
? Answering all forms of enquiries from prospective students and parents for UG, PGT and PGR courses at Nottingham;
? Counselling students and parents;
? Attending recruitment events across China, to meet and advise prospective students and offer-holders on a range of matters including courses, entry requirements and application processes;
? Collecting accurate enquiry details and carry-out appropriate follow-up work;
? Promoting China related campaigns, including country specific funding;
? Conducting school/foundation provider visits to build relationships with providers and to advise students about applying to UoN for UG studies;
? Designing and working on conversion activities, both online and offline;
? Supporting the University’s digital marketing approach in China;
? Providing support for University of Nottingham academic staff undertaking recruitment activity in China, including itineraries and data analysis;
? Conducting data analysis and surveys to inform strategic decision making;
? Contributing to the annual market plans in consultation with the Senior International Relations Manager and International Officers for China;
? Conducting market research e.g. gathering contact information for high school counsellors, competitor institution entry requirements;
? Maintaining our Chinese University and Schools databases;
? Maintaining appropriate professional development, expertise and awareness;
? Undertaking other tasks and responsibilities as many reasonable be required;
? Overtime work at weekend may be required.
