Purpose of the position
? Responsible for the development of new and existing business on a specific trade lane and is responsible to grow the volume in air and ocean on a specific trade lane (e.g. Americas)
? A primary trade sales contact for Country and sales counterparts on the respective trade lane as well as primary trade contact to procurement.
Key Tasks
? Propose and reach agreement on objectives and strategies for respective trade lane market development
? Co-ownership of master trade lane business plans: in alignment with counterparts overseas and corporate TLM (Trade lane team). Plan, break down and follow up on master trade lane business plan of own Country in cooperation with counterpart overseas and in alignment with Corporate TLM.
? Responsibility for achievement of annual trade lane targets: Volume and GP
? Primary Trade sales contact and responsible to grow the volume in air and ocean on a specific Trade Lane. Supports Country Sales team with specific trade know how (and hunt for targeted accounts (mainly big SMEs)).
? Identifying and prioritizing accounts based on targeted commodities and lane segments, as defined by Corporate and consistent with Country and business units operations.
? Responsible for liasing with G-KAM / Vertical Industry and SCM Organization in order to secure accurate and timely input for example on volume estimations, growth potential etc. for traffic out of the Country to assure no duplications with local targeted account’s list.
? Promotion and marketing of Panalpina air freight and ocean freight services to/from respective trade lane in alignment with local sales organization.
? Organize and support product training.
? Provide and disseminate market intelligence to stakeholders of respective trade lane (local sales organization, trade lane management as well as local procurement, etc.)
? Coordination of trade lane pricing policies with Country Head of M&S to support market competitive minimum selling rates (MSR’s) in order to steer and improve pro-actively:
? Capacity and allocation management
? Optimal cost/benefit sales
? Pricing review with Tender Management for GA and IV for GTAs
? Regularly monitor trade lane performance and service activities connected on Country level and come up with improvements or corrective actions.
? Quaterly feedback to Corporate on tradelane performance and outlook next quarter (via Trade lane team’s respective follow up of master trade lane business plan)
? Liaise with Corporate Trade Lane Management and cultivate overseas trade lane development partnership
? Manages route specific Country RDM’s* and establishes growth targets and KPI’s
* Route development manager if applicable due to size of Country and scope of strategic trade lanes

? Must be able to sell and close a sale by effectively negotiating with decision makers to maintain and expand business opportunities
? Solid knowledge of management-economics
? Functional know-how in air- and ocean freight

? Deep market knowledge (customers, competitors, suppliers, overall environment)
