Director Forestry Risk and Security Management (FRSM) leads the corporate-wide Forestry Risk and Security Management function. The job holder is a core member of the APP Corporate Risk and Integrity leadership team and a strong collaborator in the development of effective risk-based strategies to mitigate risks arising from external and internal issues.
The incumbent will be a sole contributor to lead, develop, execute and optimize the delivery of global FRSM risk-based management programmes to contribute to the forestry business sustainability and resiliency. The scope of FRSM programmes will include (but not limited to) risk profiling, threat & vulnerability assessments; land dispute and encroachment resolution; compliance assurance of APP global commitments, environmental and CSR programmes; forestry business impact analysis and business continuity management; crisis and incident response management; security management; logistics and supply chain security; travel security and others.
Challenge
As a Director of FRSM, you will shape FRSM to become a world class professional and high integrity function. It is important to ensure that the forestry business and its partners are enabled to operate safely, efficiently and without disruptions, including the world's most difficult markets.
? Leads, develops and manage the forestry plantation, logging, business resilience and asset protection programmes.
? Lead and manage security teams in forestry businesses.
? Develops and executes global standards for processes and procedures, security incident escalation, report generation, systems and operating guidelines; drives consistency and quality; develops governance processes for FRSM programme enablement and management forestry areas.
? Develops and implements FRSM policies, operational risk framework, in particular, ensure risks are properly evaluated, recorded and mitigating action plans are monitored to completion across the forestry businesses and supports in managing the cultural change required.
? Develop and implements group standards and expectations for forestry protection programmes, contract dispute resolutions, forest security management, protection for logging activities and operations.
? Develop effective risk based tactics to deal with and resolve encroachment and land disputes.
? Develop audit, investigate programmes to manage and report illegal forestry activities, cases to relevant authorities.
? Develop and run audit process to ensure compliance to APP’s Global Commitments, Environmental, CSR, Neighbourhood Programmes
? Assures quality, consistency, and efficiency of security processes for prevention, incident, emergency and crisis response, and business continuity.
? Designs and implements crisis and emergency response plans and associated training. Assure adequate disaster recovery/business continuity plans exist for critical forestry operations.
? Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance.
? Coordinate and liaise with law enforcement authorities and NGOs, yet ensuring a high level of ethical and integrity standard is maintained with these activities.
Qualifications and Capabilities:
1. Master or Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Security Management or related field.
2. 12+ years of relevant experience, with 10+ years in corporate security management teams distributed across multiple geographies and cultures; and preferably with experiences forestry security.
3. Strong influencing and communication skills at all levels, including confidence to engage with the top management.
4. Extensive experience in managing and conducting international security operations including forestry security, dispute resolutions, dealing with NGOs, personal protection and crisis management.
5. Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to effectively lead and participate in cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to deliver results.
6. Proactive, independent self-starter with the ability to plan, multi-task, prioritize and problem solve.
7. Ability to set clear expectations, performance measures, and goals, and ensures team and other relevant partners (security service providers) do the same.
8. Experience with FSC and other forestry programme audit and certification processes.
9. Have a passion for working in the field and forestry environments.
10. Preferred professional qualifications: CPP, PSP, DRII or similar
11. English fluently and Chinese as a first or second language
