RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary coverage will be for the corporate office of Citi China (including its shared service centre) and all general governance matters with a focus on board office matters and the Products below but including , data privacy, litigation reporting, vendor & technology contracts & corporate projects, policies implementation, development of legal guidance notes, management of legal department’s website.
Additional coverage for Product legal documentation for account-opening, cash management & loans and general research.
Specific responsibilities:
Governance
Prepare for quarterly and extraordinary board meetings, including collecting and reviewing meeting materials, taking meeting minutes, preparing for board resolutions, communication with directors and senior managers.
Draft governance related inputs for various regulatory reports, including monthly, quarterly, semi-annual business updates, annual governance report and other regulatory reports.
Review and conduct gap analysis against new regulations on governance, information technology, and intellectual property-related matters.
Others
Review supply contracts regarding Citi’s purchasing of various products and services with various counterparties (including for bank vendors).
Update legal counsels on legal developments especially on key laws and regulations relevant to Citi China, not already covered by Compliance
Assist in litigation management (including preparation of litigation reports)
Provide support to other legal counsels on Business products, transactional matters or projects
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree or above (preferably in Law with a focus on English) from the premier universities
Fluency in Mandarin and English are essential (written & spoken)
Thorough understanding of the Chinese legal environment and regulations
Independent, energetic and customer-focused individual with good team spirit and excellent interpersonal skills & adaptable
Willing to work under pressure and enjoys having a diverse coverage and the challenge of providing practical & commercial legal solutions
Previous legal experience with banking and financial services and being a newly/recently qualified lawyer will be advantageous for this position
Experience in an international or reputable domestic law firm is a plus
Fresh graduates with strong credentials (especially command of English) will also be considered and are encouraged to apply
