Job Description
 
PD-EESE is looking for an embedded modem applications engineer to lead current production embedded modem design activities for Asia Pacific region.  Engineer is required to support launching embedded modems at different Assembly Plants. Post launch, engineer will be responsible for triaging design and quality related issues for the modems.  Engineer may be required to travel to different assembly plants to support launch and address design/supplier quality issues related to the embedded modem.
Electrical and Electronic System Engineering (EESE) designs and develops vehicle electrical components and subsystems including infotainment, body electronics, driver information, climate control electronics, chassis electronics, wiring, power distribution, connectors, power supply, switches, software and modeling, restraints electronics and security subsystems.


Responsibilities: 
 

• Lead embedded modem product launch at different assembly plants in AP.  Address design and supplier quality issues identified in the Plant and lead them to closure.
• Engineer is required to have comprehensive understanding of Telematics eco-system including mobile app and cloud interfaces.
• Fully comprehend connected vehicle & module architecture and features it can support.
• Gain full understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, boundary diagrams, critical & significant characteristics (CCs & SCs) and suggest robustness ideas to further improve the design.
• Understand Telematics module platform / subsystem interfaces to identify possible improvements.
• Provide input to Telematics platform specific designs to engineering teams and feature owners.
• Drive resolution of engineering issues while working with cross-functional teams within Ford and with supplier teams.
• Strong customer focus and excellent written and oral communication skills.

 
Requirements:
 

• Bachelor degree or above in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software engineering or Computer Science
• 2+ years of experience in automotive infotainment and telematics system design.
• 2+ years of knowledge of Vehicle CAN/LIN communication buses.
• 1 year demonstrated experience in program management and supplier management activities.
• Good understanding of cellular technologies 2G/3G/4G (CDMA, GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/UMTS/HSPA+, LTE) .
• Thorough understanding of CAN architecture.  Understanding of configuration and software re-flash processes.
• Experience in automotive connectivity solutions such as Wi-Fi, Cellular, Bluetooth, vehicle.
