Position Summary:
This Supplier Quality Engineer will work at Cole-Parmer Shanghai and will be responsible for providing dedicated quality support for sourcing projects from both CP China and Global. The position will require close interface with the Cole-Parmer Global Portfolio Management team. Responsibilities will include activities associated with supplier identification, selection, qualification, development, and continuous management.
While working with Product Sourcing Team members and maintaining close contact with Business Divisions, this role will be responsible for understanding the business requirements, and provide quality support to help qualify new Asian suppliers and ensure the stable project transfer to Asian suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
? Supplier Identification/Selection/Qualification
o Works with current (CPVH, CPI, CPCN, CP Stone, CP Charleston, et.al.) and future portfolio team(s) to evaluate both existing & potential suppliers within current or new product categories
o Works with Product Sourcing Team to help identify priority of potential suppliers
o Performs assessment of supplier’s technical capabilities, quality system and production capability
o Involved in supplier selection process, including but not limited to, product design, prototyping, sampling, testing, etc.
o Conducts on-site assessment of supplier’s capability, processes, equipment and quality system, along with Sourcing members
o Develops written assessment report for Product Sourcing team and participates in supplier selection decision

? Supplier Development & Management & Continuous Improvement
o Monitors and works with suppliers to maintain and improve their performance in quality, change control, lead time, engineering capability, risk mitigation, etc.
o Performs pre-shipment inspection
o Takes lead on corrective actions initiatives to fully support Product Sourcing Team to handle customer related issues

o Supports supplier database system set-up
o Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree required; Quality or Engineering degree preferred
o Must be able to speak, read and write in English and Mandarin
o Minimum of 5 years of Manufacturing, R&D, Supplier management or Quality/Regulatory assurance, 7+ years is preferred.
o Experience with mechanical, chemicals, electronics, disposables and contract manufacturing, such as injection molding, machining, metals, tubing, molding, polymers, silicone, stamping and wire forming
o Experience with Life Science/Biopharmaceutical product lines is a plus
o Sound understanding of ISO 9000 and 13485 standards
o Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills working with both Chinese and other Asian suppliers
o Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to interface and influence at all organizational levels
o Experience with project management and proficient in the use of project management tools
o Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Working Conditions:
? Sits at computer using a keyboard and mouse to interact with computer system.
? Frequently uses phone to converse with business partners.
? Frequent writing and reading in both English and Chinese
