SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to Sr.Director Fabrics&Trims, the Fabric Technician is responsible for evaluationg and communicating bulk fabric performance and colour/print approvals according to GDI`s established standards. Position is located in our Shanghai Representative Office.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensure all bulk submits are reviewed in a timely manner(24 hour turnaround)

2. Review colour against approved lab dip/strike off and provide comments

3. Receive and analyse all fabric lab tests

4. Evaluate and approve all bulk fabric submits against approved standards(weight, handfeel, stretch & recovery)

5. Maintain all test results in Bamboo Rose(BR)

6. Update BR daily, follow up on issues, missing information and test reports

7. Communicate bulk comments to specified groups(mills, vendors, Montreal Office)

8. Review aesthetic and testing rejections with SRO Fabric Specialists and/or Montreal Fabric Specialists as necessary

9. Review colour rejections with SRO Fabric Specialists and send to Montreal Import Coordinator`s attention if necessary

10. Perform additional fabric department functions as they arise

11. Receive and file approved dips,strike-off, trims and other colour references from Montreal Office

12. Maintain approved fabric lot records and references for 6 months

EDUCATION:

College diploma or certification in Textiles, Design or Production related.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a technical understanding of standard fabric manufacturing processes

2. Good understanding of the role of QA and fabric in all phases

3. Minimum score of 16 on Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test

4. Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail

5. Solid problem solving skills

6. Excellent interpersonal and communicational skills including written and spoken English

7. Experience with Word and Excel

EXPERIENCE

2 to 5 years related experience in quality assurance and testing
